Okay so I was super excited to try out this place and thought I would be giving it a 5 star and thought it would be my new favorite restaurant but some things just fell short unfortunately. I had made a birthday reservation for a table of 6 on a Friday evening and upon arrival, they just sat us at a communal table with other people. That's not exactly the "good table" that I requested but it worked out since it wasn't right in the middle of all the noise so I'm okay with that. Here are my thoughts on the restaurant, the drinks were a okay, nothing extraordinary, nothing that I would have ordered again. We ordered a plethora of appetizers, didn't like the bacon buns, they were a little dry and not open like some of the yelp pics showed them. The beef pierogi just weren't for me, the sauce was a little more tangy than I would have preferred. The deviled eggs were also not for me. I did enjoy the potato pancakes but the actual potato part was kinda hard making me wonder when they had prepared it. Here's what I did love, the chicken paprikash dish, that was the highlight of the night, it was one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. The dumplings were also a little hard and less melt in your mouth, but I could have just drank that sauce. They get a star alone for the chicken but for $25 it's not cheap for chicken. They also get another star for the chocolate custard dessert with salted carmel and ice cream, I'm still thinking about that dessert alone. Here's what really annoyed me though. Our server, who was very nice and pleasant recommended the new apple strudel dessert the moment we got in and said how it's their new signature dish. I got really excited about getting it for the birthday boy. By the time we ordered he said "sorry, it's already sold out." I mean did you run out of apples or is it not made fresh to order. They lose a star for that. So overall, we enjoyed the entrees from the chicken to the duck and really loved the chocolate custard dessert but were disappointed that we didn't get to try that apple strudel. Also, some of the appetizers maybe weren't as good because they were brought out kind of cold, which is also a little annoying. So a restaurant that I would have thought would have easily gotten a 5 star review fell short on a few things. Also, they didn't plan on charging us for the birthday dessert since we ordered 3 and then they did charge us so it was kind of time consuming to have to take it off again. Loved certain things but some things they should work on like not running out of food that they specifically advertise.

I was surprisingly pleased with our evening at BoHo on Sunday night. Decor is adorably European, and setting was relatively quiet for a River North restaurant. I was slightly disappointed with the red wine by the glass selection. Both my Pinot and Cabernet were a bit off. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the food: +Potato Pancakes: I loved this sweet and savory combo. the pancakes were slightly overcooked for my taste, but overall, this is a great starter. +Beef Pierogi: so, so good. the sauce was rich and pierogi's were 'al dente.' best way for me to describe these scrumptious bites. +Grilled Chicken Paprikash: I wish I could make chicken like this! so tender and juicy. serving was large and perfect for sharing. the potato dumplings were a great accompaniment to this hearty dish. We passed on dessert to enjoy another cocktail across the street. BoHo is a great, unique addition to RN -- I would definitely return for another hearty meal.

Czech, German, and Austrian style dishes in the most rustic style space in Chicago. Bohemian House (BoHo) should be getting a lot more awards than it is really is getting. Then again, I can continue to come here without any problems in getting a reservation. Chef Jimmy Papadopoulos is amazing. His creations of Czech, German, and Austrian style dishes are on point for that Central Europe flavor. It is crazy to find that he was hidden away in suburbia at Sam & Harry's ( yelp.com/biz/sam-and-har… ) while experimenting this Central Europe style before creating BoHo. We started off with Deviled Eggs topped with smoked whitefsh, pickled peppers & crispy shallots and Salt and Vinegar Chips with a side of horseradish-onion dip. More than enough for two people. They should have Salt and Vinegar Chips bagged for sale as I would buy a crate to eat at my office and home. We shared some Pork Schnitzel that came with dill potatoes, bacon, onions & charred lemon as well as Chicken Parikash with paprika, pickled sweet peppers, kale & Czech potato dumplings. Both the Pork Schnitzel and Chicken Parikash was cooked perfectly. Probably the best schnitzel I have had ever. We ended the meal with Coffee and Doughnuts which is Bow Truss Coffee gelato and hazelnut brittle with a side of light doughnut holes. Perfect ending. This restaurant space is just gorgeous. As you walk inside, you immediately are transported from Chicago to Central Europe. The rustic bohemian look is transparent throughout the entire restaurant including the plates and silverware. Bring a date. Bring all your dates here. The intimate dark Central European setting along with the amazing Czech/German/Austrian dishes will make your date feel like you taken them to Europe and back. There are plenty of 4 way tables as well as a large community table along the bar. Come here and get transported to a world of dishes that Chicago now has a place to go. As for Chef Jimmy Papadopoulos, I hope that one day I can finally meet him and share a bottle of Goose Island Bourbon County when he finally gets that James Beard Award he deserves. Food - 5 Décor - 5 Service - 5

Easily my favorite new restaurant in Chicago in 2014. I've tried close to everything on the menu and I can honestly say that it would be impossible to go wrong. The space is gorgeous and different from other spots in the area. They also have several long tables that are perfect for accommodating large groups. Start your meal off with one of their cocktails, they're all fantastic, but I do especially love the Whisky in Cider on a cold winter night. The Beef Pierogi, Slow Roasted Beets, and Potato Pancakes were the must-try starters for me, but the Bone Marrow & Steak Tartare, Bacon Buns, and Salt & Vinegar Chips were not far behind. The Bacon Buns are a great compliment to the Beef Pierogis because you can use them to sop up all the amazing sauce that is left behind. For mains the Chicken Paprikash is not to be missed and the Czech Roasted Duck is an easy second choice. The Spätzle dish is one that frequently changes based on seasonal ingredients, I've had the pork belly and it was great - filling but not heavy and the hot broth/sauce is poured table side. Their Pork Schnitzel is also delicious, a great twist on the traditional czech staple. For dessert the Coffee & Doughnuts are my favorite but it's hard to say no to their delicious homemade Kolackys as well. Bottom line - their food is OUTSTANDING and you should get there now!

The instant you walk in the front of the restaurant, you will feel like you are entering someone's house and walking through the large doors. I went there late night and it was quiet. This bar eatery has no TV in the premise, which is good for bonding with friends. We sat in a very cozy large table and fell like we are having a family dinner. Anyways, overall the food was enjoyable and nicely executed. It's more of a tapas style and the entrees are not that big. Least favorite would be bacon bun and potatoe pancakes. It was just ok and nothing special. The duck was amazing and very tasty and tender. We ordered another order because we enjoyed it so much. The skirt steak was done medium rare and sliced into pieces. It was good. I like how the bone marrow and steak tartare was a combo, because usually places have one or the other,

Such a pleasant dining experience! Especially on a busy night like Valentine's day! We arrived about a half hour before our reservation but were seated quickly. They do have a lot of communal seating which I am not a fan of (especially on Valentine's day). Luckily we were sat at a semi-private 4 top in the front corner. Perfect! Loved the cozy, dark décor. Our server was simply outstanding. She was very personable, gave great recommendations and her timing was impeccable. Great beer list and fun cocktail offerings. We started off with the bacon buns & beef pierogi. The bacon buns were good but fairly straightforward. They are exactly what you would expect in a bacon bun. The pierogis were packed full of flavor. The starters were plenty big for 2 people to share. On to the entrées... my husband had the walleye & beans which he loved (and I loved even more). I had the grilled chicken paprikash & potato dumplings. The dumplings were a little too dense in my opinion. The chicken was cooked to perfection and definitely a spicier dish than I had expected. The dish was solid but I desired a bit more sweetness or maybe some cream to cut through the spiciness. We ended with the dark chocolate custard with salt caramel ice cream, candied peanuts, butterscotch & cocoa tuile. Make sure to get each element onto your spoon. Out of this world gooood!

Stopped by for brunch on a Sunday. Surprisingly, it was pretty empty. I had heard that their dinners were really good, but didn't have time to come for dinner. Anyways, for brunch, I ordered the Spring Omelette and the Pick Me Up (coffee liquor drink). Both were good. I did like how they opened up the windows, so we sat on the sofas right next to the open windows to enjoy the weather.

I want my house to look like this restaurant, it's SO cute. I really enjoyed my meal and all the appetizers were great - deviled eggs (mmm) and perogies (double mmm). I had the duck for dinner and it was possible the best duck I've ever eaten anywhere. Fall of the bone moist and flavorful. If you're vegetarian or adverse to carbs, this place is NOT for you. No veggie sides on the menu that aren't drenched in sauces, but who cares. It's delish.

I have been to BoHo for Dinner and Brunch. I was very excited when they introduced brunch. the staff here has been nothing short of excellent. The menu items are fantastic and the cocktail list is always being updated. Chicago needed a place like this with this unique cuisine.

Czechmate! Easily one of my favorite new restaurants of 2014. They get it so very right here. Mostly I love the juxtaposition of the sexy, rustic décor with hearty, Central European soul food. It's a bit unexpected yet completely approachable. The very on-trend BoHo House looks like something straight out of an Anthropologie catalog. Whomever did the design gets my highest commendation. The mixed textiles and eclectic lighting against the worn woods and homey accents is just perfection. If only my house looked like this, for real. Luckily, the food stands up where the aesthetics leave off. Really delicious, well-executed bohemian fare is happening here. If you don't know what that is, fear not. The menu is straightforward and easy to navigate. Think robust dishes like potato pancakes and pork schnitzel. Food like grandma would make. If your grandma was particularly adept in the kitchen like Jimmy Papadapoulos is. Not to be missed: smoky bacon buns, luxurious bone marrow and steak tartare (yes, together in one dish!) and, a particular standout, the chicken paprikash with Czech dumplings. Those three items, in that order, are blissful dinner perfection. Lest not forget BoHo's thoughtful cocktail program while we're at it. Their "Infused Fashion" with house-made vanilla fig bourbon and hints of orange is a craft of delight to be sipped and savored slowly. Or gulped down as I do is ok, too. Great spot for dates, groups, or playing Euro for the night. BoHo House is where the heart is... Czech 'em out!

My wife and I had a delicious Sunday afternoon brunch at Boho. First of all, the wood and brick interior and Bohemian decor was top notch. As for my meal.. it was very authentic and delicious German/Eastern European comfort food. I had the Prague Goulash.. which consisted of braised pork shoulder goulash with knockwurst and THICK rye toast.. all topped with a poached egg. My wife's selection, lox and toast, was much lighter but just as delicious. The coffee (from Bow Truss Coffee Roasters) was outstanding.

I LOVED this place. I think I might have had my new favorite dishes last night. We walked in and were able to snag two chairs and a little table in the bar area. The space is warm, ethnic, homey. They have the cutest little Boho coasters that look like leather. The plates just fit the food perfectly with just enough detail. I love attention to detail. The service was fantastic. Our girl was great with a gleaming personality and excellent recs from the menu. OMG, the food...wow. ano, ANO, ANO! DEVILED EGGS-weird-yes, we ordered these and I have to say...they were the BEST eggs I have ever had. Rich, creamy, smooth but with a little kick of sour and crunch of bacon. HEAVEN! BEEF PIEROGI-swimming in a plate of gravy, onions and cream. F yes, these were amazing. They made me blush with the rich beef on the inside but the perfect balance of dough, onion and cream. luscious and heavenly... CHICKEN PAPRAKISH-might be my new, all time fav dish. delectable. Just a touch of spice, great balance of richness with sour, with the most amazing chicken I have put in my mouth. The doughy little dumplings...MARVELOUS! PORK SCHNITZEL-decent, but didnt live up to the other dishes. Small, pre cut, dry...a far last place in comparison to the other eclectic dishes we had.

I had a fantastic experience here last night. Truly, one of the best dining experiences I have had in Chicago in some time. BoHo is a chic yet cozy Central European style restaurant in Ricer North. The food and drinks are outstanding, and so affordable. I had a Hospoda Mule at the bar to begin the evening, and then stuck to wine for the rest of the night. Our server brought us a complimentary salmon appetizer, and then our table ordered a bunch of dishes to share. There was nothing that was less than great, but some highlights included the beef pierogi, baked potato chips, and bone marrow and steak tartare: YUM! I sampled the schnitzel and chicken entrees, and both were outstanding. For dessert, we were given another freebie (the doughnuts), and also had the apple strudel and chocolate custard: delicious. At the end of the night, I couldn't believe how inexpensive our bill was. Great food at an amazing value! I have to say, though, that even with such awesome food and ambiance, the service at BoHo is what really sets this place apart. From the hostesses to the bartender to our amazing waitress, we received top quality service all night, from everyone we encountered. That NEVER happens. We actually asked to speak with the manager just to thank him and compliment his staff, who all went above and beyond for us all night. Truly, they were so nice to us the whole time and made our outing very special. I highly recommend BoHo and will make this a regular go-to from now on.

A few of my friends and I came here for brunch on Saturday and absolutely loved it. Definitely try the non alcoholic drinks--they are amazing, both in flavor and taste. In terms of food, one of my friends and I each ordered the smoked beef tongue hash, another friend ordered the pork schnitzel sandwich and another the steak and eggs. Everything was delicious with the right portion sizes, flavors and juiciness. The ambiance of the restaurant is extremely relaxing with vintage decor and the service is great as well. Will definitely be coming back to try out the dinner menu!

Excellent value for $$, portion and quality ingredients. POTATO PANCAKES -- good crispy pancakes with just right topping. Addictive and can be easily a main dish. SPATZLE -- plentiful smoked beef tongue that taste like bacon can be overwhelming. Good balanced meal. ALASKAN HALIBUT -- good enough for Guy portion. 1-star less: - the only uneven chair in town - service was so so - phone reservation only - water bottle was consistently placed in front of me instead of side - it's bright, not as romantic as expected - where did the hip pretty people go? LOL

GET THE CHICKEN DISH OMG.. THIS WAS THE BEST CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD!!! The chicken was listed as being brined for days and you could tell from how tender and flavorful the breast piece was. The orange sauce was amazzzzzzing We also had the steak dish which was good but was totally overshadowed by the chicken haha. The actual place is cool looking and you feel like you are somewhere in Europe. We made reservations 2 hours before arrival and we were seated at one of the big communal tables next to the bar. Service was good but they forgot to get me the 2nd beer i ordered and i just didnt ask for it again haha. The one thing that made this place was the dam chicken though haha

This place was fantastic. I came here one evening with co-workers while on a business trip. I was happy to hear that my fellow diners were also interested in having German/Eastern European food. We went on Tuesday evening and it was pretty quiet. It has an eclectic but comfortable look on the inside. There are colorful tiles as you head in, which to me felt Turkish more than anything else. Lots of wood and dim lighting are part of the main dining room. Our server was well-versed on the food and drink menu and was proactive in offering suggestions based on any indecisiveness. All types of beverages were represented on the drink menu. Cocktails, wines, and beers. There was a healthy list of beers available on draft as well, including a decent amount of American craft brews. For my main, I chose the spatzle and started with the roasted cauliflower starter. The cauliflower salad was fantastic, complete with radishes and a perfectly poached egg. The spatzle came with a decent amount of salty and savory pork belly. It was excellent, but unfortunately was full and unable to finish it. I was surprised by the size of the starters. Prices were quite fair. Should my travels bring me back to the area, I'd definitely return to this spot.

I don't do this very often to give a 5 stars to a restaurant that I tried for the first time. But I have to This place. Food: 4/5 ordered the duck, chicken, the snitzel, the steak tartare, the squash dish; great detail attention to the spices and the cooking of the dishes. Amazing presentation. Service: 5/5. Great detail service by busboy and waitress. They knew their dishes. Atmosphere: 4.5/5. It made you not feel like that you were In Chicago. It was very open, pretty , nice custom furniture.

The schnitzel here is great! Probably the best I've had having eaten it in many places from New York to Germany. I'm surprised not more people have pictures of it. Anyhow, the real star was the apple strudel. Soo good! They have a great Chicago beer list so it was great to try a flight. I've never had Chicago beer before!

Bohemian House is one of the most fun, hip restaurants I've visited in a while. It's not one of those places where all of the beautiful people go just to see and be seen, but the food is actually really delicious there! I tried the chicken paprikash, which was absolutely delightful. Tender chicken on the bone, with a creamy sauce, pickled veggies and dumplings on the side. Very unique and delightful. Great restaurant!

The food is amazing!!!!!!!!!I enjoyed the experience here a lot! The service is excellent! The wait is very friendly! We ordered two cocktails, derby day and Eleanor sth..they are sooooo good! For the appetizer, we ordered beef tartar and it was just delicious! My boyfriend ordered the paprika chicken and I ordered the duck breaks! They are THE BEST! Give it a try when you are in town!

In Chicago for our anniversary and had made a reservation at this restaurant due to the high reviews. The reservation was made on Open Table and I had added a note saying it was our anniversary and had requested a booth. Upon arriving we were nicely greeted and led to our table which was between two other couples....you know the ones, those little tables for two along a wall with the bench on one side and chair on the other. As we sat, I mentioned to the hostess, Abbey that we had requested a booth. Unfortunately she said none were available. One of our neighboring couples had a guy that must have a hearing problem because he was shouting at the top of lungs. Lucky for us, Abbey noticed our displeasure and quickly got permission from the manager to let us sit in a huge booth meant for six people. Thank you Abbey for your attentiveness and great service, you made our night special. The food was excellent, definitely try the pirogies as an appetizer, they are awesome.

Bohemian House has to be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Unlike a lot of the restaurants in River North, the space is very quaint, intimate and unique. The interior design of this restaurant is so incredible! With that being said, the food is delicious and the service is outstanding. I have been for dinner and brunch and both experiences were very rich. Our waiter, Nate, for brunch was so great! Perfectly attentive, enthusiastic and informative -not to mention, comped a drink for us that he wanted us to try - I highly recommend Boho House!

I like all other yelpers get a woodie when I see 4.5 stars. This place was quite disappointing. We ordered: Deviled eggs - bland, I'm pretty sure they were just hard boiled eggs with salt. Beef cheek perogis - edible, but with that weird meat taste you get in a shitty stir fry. Ludicrously disappointing. Chicken - the chicken was good, but not impressive. If you have to cover it in a thick layer of sauc how great is it? Duck - not great Also the service was quite poor. We didn't get clean forks between courses. They had us hand our plates too them. Overall the food was on par with a 3 star restauraunt but at this price I'm downgrading it to two. The service should probably move it to 1. Also it was too dark in there.

Incredible ... Bohemia brought to life in the U.S. My grandfather would rejoice. The deviled eggs are delicious, creamy and sweet and tangy all at once. Chicken paprikash: perfectly cooked with pickled peppers to perk up the taste buds. Only regret: kitchen ran out of kolacky!! But the chocolate custard was a lovely stand-in.

I love the food at BoHo, but I really come for the amazing service. Ryan was our waiter for a 2 party birthday dinner, and he was so attentive and thoughtful. From knowledgeable recommendations about the menu to slipping some extra cherries with our cocktails, he really made for a great experience. Thanks Ryan!

We just had a glorious meal here. Two apps, three entrees, two desserts, and two rounds of drinks for $150. Fairly right priced. And the flavors were amazing. I got the chicken in this yummy and unique sauce, and friends got pork and steak - also good. Highly recommend.

Yum! My husband and I ate a late dinner here and really enjoyed it. The location is a little tricky to find (it's off state, and looks a bit like an office building -- go inside, up the tiled stairs, and through the wooden door) and poorly signed, but once inside it's really pretty and intimate. We split the pierogies, which might have been the best dish of the evening: savory and full of flavor, definitely nothing like the freezer case ones I'm used to. He had the walleye for his main, which he really liked. I ordered the chicken paprikash, which was excellent (thank you for the recommendation, yelpers!). I usually avoid eating chicken out (it's way too often a default menu option included for picky eaters) but I enjoyed this dish alot. The portion was massive (my husband ended up eating about half of it), but the chicken was really tender and flavorful I could have done without the dumplings, but they were good for soaking up sauce. I also had a cocktail (simply czech or something?) which was great. The service was great -- they took our orders promptly, but weren't obnoxious about trying to get you to order extra drinks, or trying to turn the table. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Chicago -- I'd love to try some of their other menu options!

New place so very nice friendly service. Fabulous contemporary urban bohemian decor , high ceilings, big windows and good vibe. I didn't choke at the price of the drinks, which I oftern do in that neighborhood so i guess they were... I was going to say reasonable but its probably better to say competitive with places in the area. The food, modern Bbohemian comfort food is fresh and very tasty in a contemporary kind of way. The beets and pierogies were excellent and the chicken moist and tasty. Somebody who claims to know something about Czech food cause she's Czech or something said the pierogies weren't as good as grandma's but their is always a whiner in the crowd when comparing to grandma's stuff! A fresh, tasty comfortable oasis in the heart of the River North touristy restaurant district. Great addition to the Chicago restaurant scene.

I'm voting this place as most likely for me to fall asleep at after eating. Between the menu of Central European dishes that stick to your ribs, the soft lighting, wine, lack of TV's and music, and the incredibly comfy furniture in their lounge I almost Rip Van Winkled all over the beautiful green couches. This place is perfect for a date, evening with your family, or just getting away from everything that is River North on a weekend. The fantastic service and eclectic decor create quite the relaxing experience if you're not planning on ripping Fireballs and spitting game at girls. Do try the beef perogies, beets, bacon buns, deviled eggs, and pork schnitzle. I tasted all of them and each were sheer bliss. There's also a decent wine list, cocktails, and beer. Overall it's a breath of fresh air if you're up for something a little different in this area.

Came here for dinner with reservations on a weekday. It was pretty empty when we got there, but it eventually filled up. I really like the atmosphere. It's definitely a trendy place, yet low-key and laid back with dim lighting and dark wood. We had the beef cheek pierogis, which were filled with very tender meat. I had the chicken paprikash and it was very moist and was also a very generous portion. I didn't really care for potato dumplings that it came with. The sauce was delicious, too. The bf had the skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly. Nothing too exciting with that dish, it is pretty straightforward. We got the dark chocolate custard for dessert. It was good, nothing mind blowing. I enjoyed dinner and the bf really liked the place.. probably because there was a lot of meat on the menu and the portion sizes were decent.

Boho was amazing. The best part was Nicole and here amazing cocktail, the Eleanor's garden. The drink is one of the best cocktails I've had in Chicago but what made it better was the story Nicole told us of its origin. Ask her to tell it to you.

Came here for my birthday dinner with my gf. We made a reservation for 830 but we got there around 7 and were seated right away which was really nice of them. We started off with the roasted bone marrow and the beef cheek pierogis. The bone marrow was delicious, rich and fatty and spread on a nicely toasted piece of bread, it was simply delightful. The pierogis were really well made, nice and beefy, I wish there were more in the bowl. For main courses I got the chicken paprikash and my gf got the pork schnitzel. The chicken was really good, nice and peppery and really moist and well cooked throughout. Not dry at all which was very surprising for such big pieces of chicken. All in all, I thought this place was really cool. The food was really well prepared and delicious. Even though it was a little pricey they give you a ton of good food so you definitely won't go home hungry.

One of my favorite new restaurants of the year...and who would have thought it would be Eastern European?? It starts with the decor which has a lot of wood and detail. Very cool setting unlike the modern clean lines at other downtown restaurants. Chicken paprikash was amazing...very flavorful. Service was excellent and drinks were strong.

Love the decor in this place, very chill. Great service, sat at the rail, it was the bartenders first night and he did a great job. Food was excellent, deviled eggs were miniature works of art, knock wurst was excellent as was the duck main course. Solid selection of craft beers. Hopefully this place won't be too crowded the next time I return as I loved being able to walk in and get a seat at the rail. This is fancy Eastern European cuisine at its best. Bonus, they play a lot of Bob Marley.

I visited Bohemian House with friends for dinner recently. We had to take a late reservation as that's all that was available, but it was a weekend, so not a huge imposition. At least we had time to catch up beforehand with a cocktail in the area. At first glance, BoHo is beautiful - very comfy with leather couches and a variety of differently sized tables. Globe drop lights across the middle of the room are very lovely and give a nice warm glow. The bar is very eye catching as well. You can immediately tell that it's not a huge space, but they seem to organize it well. We were quickly seated as well as greeted. They have a variety of interesting cocktails, though I went straight for a glass of wine. The list is interesting, though there's nothing inexpensive on it for those of you looking for a bargain. They do have some decently priced wines by the bottle, however. We tried a ton of food: pierogis, bone marrow with steak tartare, knockwurst, and another item that I'm totally blanking on (oops!). The pierogis, while not traditional, were quite good. I still like mine sautéed up in onions and butter, but hey, my grandma isn't the chef here... The bone marrow, while not a huge portion was huge on flavor with the steak tartare. I like everything about this, though I think the bone marrow could have stood on it's own as it was quite nicely cooked. There were crushed capers on the steak which I liked as it's a typical accompaniment to the bone marrow. I could have stopped eating at the end of the appetizers, but we had to try the entrees as well. I had the spaetzle - which was very delicious. The menu called out cheese and I thought it might have an overwhelmingly rich sauce - but no, it was like cheese curds mixed in! This dish was unexpected but delicious. I had a small bite of the apple strudel - also yummy. All in all, I thought the food was delicious, nicely prepared, well cooked and not quite as heavy as you might expect based upon the name and the descriptions online. I do think the entrees were well priced, but the appetizers were a bit higher than I'd typically expect. Service was very helpful with menu choices as well as efficient and friendly service. I would return, though I might make a dinner out of a few of the appetizers! You definitely won't go hungry here!! Food - 4 Bathrooms - 4 Service - 5 Value - 4 Atmosphere - 5

Was brought here as a surprise for dinner and could not have been more amazed! The first thing I noticed was the fun, relaxed atmosphere with, you guessed it, a sophisticated Bohemian decor. Now, I have some Czech and German roots, so I've had my fair share of Bohemian fare, but the flavor profiles completely blew me away. My boyfriend and I shared the pierogi small plate to start, moved on to the Czech roasted duck and pork schnitzel, then finished the evening with the glazed plum klachekys. Everything was fantastic, and just the right amount of food. Our server Mark was equally impressive. All of his food and drink recommendations were on point, and he was more than happy to indulge all my food questions. The food was great, but it really was Mark who made it a truly wonderful experience.

Walk up the dark wooden steps and into Bohemian House, and the magic starts. Chicago vanishes, and you're in a old restaurant in Prague, with wooden floors and tables, comfy chairs covered in a tapestry pattern, golden lights that cast a soft glow. And you haven't even ordered yet. BoHo calls their fare "Bohemian Inspired" and it's indeed inspired cuisine. Bohemia is more extensive than just the Czech Republic but let's not quibble over the historical boundaries of this ancient land. Chef Jim Papadopoulous, formerly of De La Costa & Sam&Harry's, brings rocking flavors to a cuisine Chicagoans often associate with family restaurants scattered in Berwyn along Cermak. But while the base ingredients of pork, duck, and beef are shared, Bohemian House provides a new spin on the flavors. Pork schnitzel marries thin strips of pork in a light breading, still lightly pink and moist, atop a light German potato salad. Like other dishes here, contrasts play on the plate, crisp and moist, and don't weigh you down. The waitress - friendly and helpful - may suggest a mix of small and large plates. We chose 2 small, 1 large, and 2 desserts, along with an extra side. The spaetzle, which we ordered as a standalone, were hot and fresh, irreguarly shaped and browned from their searing in butter. I think they'd be perfect as an "extra" along with the schnitzel. If only we could have tried all the small plates! I ate all the devilled eggs myself, like a mad picnicker, only no picnic ever had eggs quite this creamy, with a hint of smokiness from the whitefish, and fried shallots and capers adding more textural contrast on top. Salt & vinegar chips are just plain addictive, and you'll find a large selection of draft beers to wash them down. The beer list is thoughtfully arranged in order from lightest to darkest, with beers from around the country and a few Europeans tossed in. Batch 19 Lager, brewed in Colorado, is described by the brewers as a "hoppy, yet surprisingly balanced, lager that's based on a 100+-year-old recipe." All I know is that it went down smoothly with the meal. The best part of the dinner? The dark chocolate custard deserves an award on its own. The custard has that deep smooth creaminess that goes way beyond mousse, full-bodied, take no prisoners taste. It's cool ... and then it's paired with salted caramel ice cream and candied peanuts. Sweet, crisp, salty, cool, cold ... and then a sliver of cocoa and butterscotch tuile tops it. It seems like an afterthought, but it's another example of Chef P's brilliance ... a crackle that is yet another texture contrast to the entire dessert. I can't wait to go back to try more dishes, but I'm already looking forward to my next Chicago visit in November. I'll be staying in the burbs, but I'm willing to take the hit of a 60 minute drive bumper to bumper on the Ike to get that dessert. They'd better not be out!! Kudos on an outstanding new choice for Chicago.

What an exceptional restaurant. Great beer choices, wonderful apps (we had all of them.....group dinner). Pork schnitzel was outstanding. I sampled the chicken from a friend and it was pry the best chicken I've ever tasted. Portions are not huge, which is nice for sharing. Service was friendly and attentive. Space is very cool. Only ding.....no valet (trekked from 'burbs). Server told us they do have options nearby. Maybe promote more on website or social. Last nitpick....friend said they were out of several wine choices. Neither outweigh how good this place is though.

Boho was absolutely fantastic.. It almost had a speakeasy vibe with the understated entrance. The decor was very chic and stylish but the staff was not pretentious and in fact, incredibly personable and welcoming. They had a unique cocktail menu, a good selection of foreign and domestic beers on tap, and also a very cool menu that drew on many popular bohemian dishes. I ended up having the Alaskan halibut which came quickly and was absolutely delicious. (Yah yah I know.. So bohemian) Overall, it was kind of a small menu and I was leaning towards giving boho a 4 but the staff behind the bar was awesome. Christine (I think?) was a sweetheart and made me feel very welcome. There was another guy behind the bar whose name I didn't get but he was also great - chatted me up the whole time and was a great bs'er. Cool design/decor, good drinks, great food, and a great staff - 10! I mean.. 5?

My boyfriend and I took my parents here for dinner Saturday evening. We had a lovely time! This was me and my BF's second time here, and I'm happy to report it's just as amazing as I remembered! 2 minor things: The bacon buns just weren't as yummy as I remembered... they just were kinda meh. And I personally hate feeling rushed, and I got that vibe just a little bit from our server, but once I let him know we weren't in a big rush things slowed down, which I appreciated. Other than that, just so great. And I got the chicken based on you Yelpers. SO right! Get that chicken! It was seriously about the best chicken I've ever had. Overall, a great, great place. Will return again!

We visited here on our first day of a few day stay in Chicago. They happily accommodated our party of six (four kids) and seated us promptly. They were also very friendly to our Gluten Free needs. Long story short, it's fabulous. I can't recommend the Duck enough. Let me say that again get the duck!!!! All the food was good, and the speciality drinks were amazing. All said this is definitely a place to visit and frequent. I might make anther trip back to Chicago just to dine here again.

What a treasure! Service is top notch. Best European food I've ever had. Duck, schnitzel, cauliflower salad, latkes-DIVINE! All of them. Would love to try more. The head chef came out and spoke to us-super nice guy with a creative mind. Ask your server for their recommendations too. Everyone here is very kind and knowledgable.

Very impressed on all levels. The portions are filling, and every dish was tasty. This was the second time i had been here, so now I have tasted half the starters and half the main dishes and all of the desserts. The food is really unique--I cant think of a restaurant to compare to and this is a good thing. The potato pancakes and dumplings had a great texture. The salmon--excellent and lovely spice combinations, steak--very filling and love the faro, the duck was superb and not dry. The paprikash also was quite nice--people tend to dry out the chicken and it wasnt dry here. The desserts--these folks make the kolacky correctly--a nice change...so many bakeries in Chicago make them the wrong way. The servers were very helpful--excelent service very knowledgable without snobbery. This is also one of the most beautiful restaurants in Chicago--just gorgeous interior. Good for dates, good for families.

I was a little unsure all summer given I'm vegetarian but finally chose this place for a night of cocktails with a gf! No regrets! Their drinks were great, service (Gabi) superb and even the appetizers and salads we tried, they were able to bring the fish or meat on the side. Nice casual atmosphere with a large communal high-top table. We enjoyed our overall experience here.

Oh my . . . this was amazing. Great food, gorgeous place, super service. The only negative is the location in the super touristy stretch off Michigan avenue. We split appetizers of pierogies, potato pancakes chips and roasted beets. We were all fighting over everything because they were all good. For the entree, I had the Chicken Paprikash, which was fabulous. Oh! . . . and they have great beer to go with the food too! I started with a Marzen and then moved to the Praga Dark with dinner. We will go here again and again whenever we visit Chicago. Outstanding.

This place has been on my list of places to try forevvvvver. Though it's housed in River North it doesn't feel particularly pretentious. The space is intimate and the decor makes it feel warm. Reservations accepted! The menu is short and sweet. We decided on: - beef tongue pierogies - potato pancakes - bone marrow and steak tartare - spaetzle - roasted duck - chicken paprikash - coffee and doughnuts - dark chocolate custard Everyone in our party of four agreed that everything was just really tasty. The duck was cooked beautifully. (Note: they tend to run out of the duck dish quickly so be sure to put in your order quick! We had a 7pm reservation on a Monday and snagged the last one!) The chicken was really moist. I loved the combination of marrow and tartare, never had that together before but it's a fantastic idea. And I loved how they chose to dress each dish. Sometimes you see microgreens and you're like, well this is nice but it doesn't bring much to the dish. But with Boho's dishes, whether it's the pickled cabbage or the potato dumplings, all the extras really add something complementary to the flavor or texture. Both desserts were really good as well, both play on sweet and salty flavors. If I'm gonna be Top Chef judge picky I'd say the pierogies were a tad heavy on the salt and the potato pancakes were fried a bit too hard. Four was good number to come with, so you can order a bunch of dishes and share. Sharing is caring! Portions are sized so that it leaves you wanting more. And I will definitely be coming back for more!

Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service! We went to the Bohemian House on a Sunday evening for a dinner. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately impressed by the great atmosphere. Fancy decorations give this place its special feel. Our waitress was extremely helpful, friendly and very attentive. We ordered a beer and had the homemade chips with radish dip. Afterwards we had the steak tartar and the red beets salad as appetizers and the duck leg and the roasted chicken as entrees. We both had a glass of wine (cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc) which was perfect for the entrees. We shared the donuts with espresso ice cream in the end. Making the evening perfect. Everything we had was delicious and fulfilled all our expectations! The ladies room was extremely clean and nice. I will definitely go there again when I am back in Chicago. This is the perfect place to have a nice dinner which is excellent in taste, service and atmosphere, yet not too fancy and thus making you feel at home. And it is still reasonably priced for what you get (we payed $166 including tip). Must go!

The Bohemian house is a place every Chicago foodie should visit. Don't be deterred by the older yuppy crowd, just focus on the food and you wont care if your in a retirement home or a chuckie cheese. The chef here knows what hes doing. For an appetizer I ordered the Bone Marrow and Steak Tar Tar, which was beautiful and rich. This dish definitely isn't for the feint in appearance or smell, You can see on the website its served in a bone and my girlfriend said it smelled like dog food. Well yeah, it is raw meat. But if you can brave past that you will not regret ordering this dish. If it weirds you out, just go for it. The grilled sourdough makes an amazing partner and this dish is best shared between at least 2 people. For my main dish, I decided not to get the special, which was salmon and a mistake on my part, but I instead got the Schnitzel. The schnitzel was tender and juicy and the breading was crisp and light. The light sauce served around it wasnt overpowering and really allowed to you taste the meat without masking its wonderful flavor. I also tried my girlfriends pork belly, which was perfect, it is porkbelly after all. But the real mistake was NOT ordering the special, salmon. I tried my brothers and I have to say if you dont like fish, or salmon, you would still like this. The inherent fishy taste of salmon was subtly covered by the wonderful sauce and there was this asparagus or arugula creme paste? Im not quite sure what it was aside from heavenly. I STRONGLY recommend ordering whatever the special is, The chef at Bohemian House will not disappoint you I promise. After a big rich meal like that I suggest getting the Coffee and Donuts for desert, you may think this is a standby boring old dessert but the donuts were light and fluffy and made up fresh with just a little cup of coffee gelato that made for a perfect end to the meal.

The inside was a cool rustic feel. It was busy. The food was good. The chicken dish was amazing! The pork schnitzel was just a fried pork fritter but still rather good. Desserts were small but good. A little pricey but overall it was good.

My fiance and I stopped in for an early dinner last week because we'd heard such wonderful things. At first, our lovely waitress (Gabby), didn't see that we had been sat in the back and were the first folks in the restaurant at 5pm- so we waited for about 10-15 minutes for service. But she was on top of it - offering us a 'sorry I didn't see you' plate of house made chips and dip that was delightful. (Very kind of her). After that we split the deviled eggs with salmon (they were delicious) and we also split the duck (We both really enjoyed it) - If you were starving I'd say order your own plate, but we were just 'kind of' hungry so the chips/eggs/duck made for a perfect meal. I had the English Garden cocktail and I think it's one of my new Chicago faves - lovely citrus notes with the rose infused gin - I highly recommend it. My fella had a non-alcoholic mojito which they put together for him from their brunch menu upon asking for a fun, but non-booze-centric drink recommendation. He had two of them. All in all the food and the service were both great! I was a little bit leery that it would be too 'heavy and German' but I was really pleasantly surprised with how inventive the flavors were across the board. All I can say is, you should go and eat here. It's also beautifully designed, terrific ambiance which makes a fantastic date night. We both left knowing that will be back! Loved it.

Very good experience on a quiet Wednesday night. Drinks were delicious, decor is unique, service was good, and food was seasoned perfectly. Everything we ate had a layers of flavor. Prices were a little high but totally what you would expect from River North. We will definitely go back.

Nice place to eat. The room it's very in bohemian style and the service is great. 3 stars just because I don't like the place where you sit very close to the other people. I literary listen all the night the crazy conversation of 2 drunk people. The food is very good but very heavy. Great selection of beer!

  • John C.

I had the duck which I thought was delicious. I didn't care too much for the sweet and sour sauce that came with it. I had the recommended pairing of the Seven Falls Cabernet which was excellent on its own and enhanced the duck nicely as well. For dessert I had the dark chocolate custard. Very high concentration of cocoa so if you are a dark chocolate lover then this is for you. Very good friendly service.

You how when you order the beet salad and you get this beautiful salad delivered to the table only to be disappointed by beets that taste like you are eating 'earth'. Well it doesn't happen here. Best beet salad I ever had. Rich sweet beets, walnuts, and herbs. Next up was the signature dish chicken paprikish (sic). Fabulous! You won't go hungry here. And did I mention the 12 beers they had on tap? Do yourself a favor and go there. Go now!

Hands down fantastic!!! Finally a place that isn't Asian, French or Italian yet the explosion of flavors will blow you away! I came in with a friend who is a foodie and both of us can be very tough critics but there wasn't one thing we would change about this place. From service to atmosphere this place deserves five stars. Sure wine list could have been a bit more extensive, but they are already working on it! We shared: Smoked fish and cherry pepper deviled eggs, and cauliflower salad - I cant even say which dish was better, both were unique and out of this wold delicious. Then we ordered the chicken and beef tongue... again both absolutely amazing, but beef tongue simply stole my heart. I grew up eating beef tongue, but I never had it this well done! Bravo. The ambiance starts with exterior door and steps, and then spills into one of the most unique and beautiful dinning spaces in Chicago. Every detail is absolutely breathtaking including dishes. Bohemian House is an absolute gem!

I decided to try BoHo during a short visit to Chicago after reading some great reviews online. I arrived with a date on a Monday at 7:45. Our first impression was very positive. The decor is rich and cohesive. It is a romantic restaurant. The colors, furniture and lighting embody the bohemian descriptor. My date and I were seated at one of the long wooden tables along the center of the main dining space. The restaurant was thinly populated when we arrived and we worried about possibly losing privacy as the place filled up. That never occurred but it did cause me to wonder whether the seating situation might become intrusive on busier nights. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive and very familiar with the menu. Bar service was prompt. We had two cocktails each: the cocktails I had do not seem to be listed on the current menu (bourbon) but my date was very fond of the strawberry basil martini. We tried the beef pierogi appetizer and also an off-menu trout appetizer. The trout was interesting and I would definitely order it again. For dinner, my date had the bass and I had the duck. We liked hers more than mine, but both were well- prepared. We had the dark chocolate custard for dessert which was rich and went well with our coffee. I enjoyed BoHo. The food is quite good, but it's the ambiance that really makes the place special.

From beginning to end an awesome experience! I organized a dinner here for our development team and we were not disappointed. The ambience, vibe, service and food were extraordinary! While, it was a prix fixe menu for us, we truly enjoyed it. The slow roasted beets, beef pierogi...grilled chicken paprikash, skirt steak...dark chocolate custard, simply amazing and left me with a palette to return! Danny, Assistant Manager, was very accommodating and assured me we would enjoy the experience. I would have loved to meet the chef, Jimmy! As a newcomer to town from Miami, this was comforting!

I dont know where to begin. This place was delicious!!! We had a party of 6 and everyone loved everything they had. Slow roasted beets, the taste if hard to describe very sweet but delicious. The potato pancakes were also great. We also had: bacon buns (which were good but not as amazing as you would think), beef pierogi, I had the grilled chicken paprikash which was great. Chicken was cooked very well. Someone is the group had the spatzle, they loved it, someone had the pork schnitzel, they also loved it. A few people had the duck and raved about it. Everything was good! We didnt get dessert but someone had just the coffee and donuts and liked it. Would definitely go back. Staff was great, out waitress was the best. Loved everything about this place. The only thing i would complain about is the communal seating, which is trendy. we got lucky and had a table to ourselves but that would be my only complaint. The decorations are very nice as well. Nice feel to the restaurant. I did have one of their specialty drinks which was okay.

Yes yes yes. Everything about this place is great. Atmosphere feels upscale yet inviting, and the food is a little "out there" but by no means something that might make your stomach turn. Must haves are the beef cheek pierogies and the bone marrow with steak tartare. Gorgeous presentation and even better taste.

Had an amazing dinner. Started off with the beef face pierogi, then our table ordered the salmon, skirt steak, and schnitzel. Everything was incredible but if you like salmon definitely get it here. It was the best Salmon I have ever had. Then for dessert we had the dark chocolate custard and the apricot with lavender icecrean. Will definitely be back

Awesome! Great food and an awesome vibe. Great decor, super staff... It's hard to find any faults. We started with the chips, the pierogis, and potato pancakes. Main dishes were the chicken, the beet salad, and the skirt steak. Also had the dark chocolate custard and the whiskey cider. Classy but not pretentious. Excited to go again and hoping to try the recently added brunch! Highly recommend!

Wonderful food, great atmosphere, gorgeous space. The service was great. Starters were mostly great. Knakwurst and pierogi were amazing. Fried potato bread was really good, and the potato salad was good but not exciting. The chicken paprikash and the duck are awesome. Dessert was great too - the kolacky and strudel are both very tasty.

Another good dining experience while visiting Chicago. Boho was recommended to us by a waitress at Purple Pig, and a great recommendation it was (was on my to-try list in any event). We started with the steak tartare/bone marrow which was incredible. The combination of the sweet cold tartare and the rich warm marrow, accented by watercress on fire toasted sourdough was perfect. Next up came the cauliflower salad, which was far better than we expected. The richness of the poached egg mixed with the crunch of the caulifower, the savoriness of the chicken skin and accented with bitter radish slices was really really good. We finished with the chicken paprikash, which was moist, well-seasoned/spiced, and paired with housemade potato dumplings. A rich, filling dish that was great to split. There were plenty of seats available at the bar for this impromptu meal, and service was good (not great). The wine list was surprisingly short and offerings by the glass were not nearly what I'd expect given the quality of the food.

Small, warm and cozy atmosphere, a little dark for my taste, prices are average for Chicago dining. Menu is simple, but tasty. Noise level is a high, hard to carry on a long conversation. Overall a must to try.

First night in town and I am not sure we will have a better meal. The service, food, and atmosphere were all amazing. This place is phenomenal. Started with the potato pancakes, delicious. Entrees of Spatzle and Schnitzel, both sinfully amazing. Ended the meal with apple strudel that was better than my German grandmother's. Highly recommended!

Boho house, you da bomb! 3rd time here, first time was when they just opened, many months later - they still rock. Deep, accurate flavours that just make you go mmmmmmm..!! We had the shnitzel (the best I ever had) , pierogi, beet salad, chicken paprikash and the chocolate custard for dessert. All was absolutely great. Keep it up!

Loved the bacon buns, perogis, and potato pancakes. Drinks are strong. As we needed to get our bill so we could get to the train station our server was no where to be seen, but that was my only complaint. Made it to the train on time!

they have a nice selection of wine, the deviled eggs are good although it's a bit too hearty for a starty, i think there is one egg too many. the duck was excellent, I'm very demanding when it comes to meat cooking time but this was perfect and the mix with the apple slices was a great idea, i really enjoyed it. i had the kolacky for dessert and again, it was great, very soft, a perfect way to end this dinner. the place is really nice, it's cosy, quiet, very cool and warm.

I had been dying to try BoHo since it opened and finally got the opportunity this past Saturday night with a friend. The space itself is gorgeous. We were seated in the back at a little stand alone table for two near the kitchen. For drinks my friend ordered a sort of hot chocolate cocktail that was delicious. I had a glass of pinot grigio that was great. Now for the food: Potato Pancakes - These were amazing. Crunchy, a little salty/sweet/savory all in one. Delicious. Beef Pierogi - These were just as good as I had hoped. The pierogis themselves were tender, the beef filling was flavorful. The sauce the pierogis were in was rich and so good we could have drank it. Even the little roasted carrots on top were great - nicely roasted and crunchy, almost like french fries. Skirt Steak - The steak was perfectly cooked and tender and juicy, with soft, melt-in-your mouth sweet potatoes underneath. My friend was particularly fond of the sauce. Chicken Paprikash - This dish lived up to its presentation, being the juiciest chicken I've had in a restaurant in a long time. The sauce was full of flavor and had a little kick to it. The potato dumplings were heavy and good in the sauce. Coffee & Donuts - We wanted a light dessert to round off the meal. The hot, sugar-coated donuts were heaven dipped in the coffee gelato. Yum! Service: Everyone was so nice. Our waitress (Kayla I think?) was fantastic. She, along with the busboys were attentive and on point. The whole vibe in the place isn't pretentious or snobby at all--everyone is warm and inviting. Best restaurant I've been to so far this year!

Not quite 5 stars but overall very good. I tried the following: Appetizers: deviled eggs and pierogies (both very good and not too much for 2 thin people) Entree: Pork schnitzel (it goes from OK to delicious when you mix up everything on the plate and squeeze the lemon half over it) Dessert: Cheese kolocky (there is nothing bad to say about this other than that it will not make you skinny) The clientele seemed to consist largely of wealthy 30-somethings, which I liked. This place is casual yet classy. It's definitely worth a visit.

Walked in on a weeknight before going over to my friend's charity event at THEORY. I was told there would be food there but didn't want to take a chance, we decided to get a quick snack. Did a quick yelp search and decided to come to this place. The entrance is sort of hidden so you have to keep an eye out for this sign that is embedded into the brick wall 'BOHO". The hostess told us they were completely booked but there was full menu service at the bar area. First We walked over to the bar by ourselves to look for 2 seats but only found one seat. One of the workers quickly came over and asked 2 ladies already sitting at the bar to move down one seat so that we can sit together. We ordered the paprika chicken with some type of pickled red bell peppers and potato dumpling which has a gnocchi appearance and texture. ------ DELICIOUS! Cauliflower salad with poached egg --- The cauliflower looked like some type of broccoli cauliflower hybrid ---- DELICIOUS!!! Excellent Food and Service. Can't wait to go back there and try their other menu items, hopefully all of them!

I haven't written a review in soo long, but I use yelp so often I figured it was time to give back...and BoHo House is the perfect opportunity to start! I absolutely loved it and so did my uber picky husband. First of all, the decor is awesome, as everyone else seemed to agree. It's chic and elegant without being stuffy. The service was also spot on! The food: We started with the bacon buns. I expected these to be my favorite, but was pleasantly surprised to find that they were actually my least favorite. Not because they weren't super tasty, but because everything else was just so much better! The next dish was the beef pierogis. I could have eaten 100 of these - the sauce was awesome and the portion was perfect for two people. Our last starter was the potato pancakes. These were my favorite! My husband doesn't even like smoked salmon and he loved this dish! The pancake wasn't heavy or greasy and the salmon added the perfect amount of salt. Our last order was the chicken Paprikash. I never order chicken when I go out because I think it's so boring, but this was phenomenal - super moist, flavorful and just the right size. I highly recommend everything we ordered. I also thought the prices were spot on and we both walked out satisfied, but not stuffed. My husband's biggest complaint about places where you are supposed to share plates is that he never leaves full - that was definitely not the case with BoHo House!

I've always loved coming here, the schnitzel was as good as my moms but tonight was off. There is no vegetable with he schnitzel just a dry potato, it's so dark I couldn't see my food or read the menu and the only vegetable on the menu is a beer salad. Perhaps I missed all this I. My previous trips bit my once Chicago favorite is no more.

We stumbled upon this gem right near our hotel while walking back from a long day of sightseeing. After checking out the menu, my family of four decided to dine at BoHo. We are so glad we did. The food is solid and a unique twist on Central European food (think Czech, Hungarian, Austrian). We shared the Pierogi appetizer, which tasted amazing. Each of us chose a different entree. The salmon was, hands down, the best of the four choices. Delicious King Salmon with a lovely corn/squash succotash. The Chicken paprikas was a solid choice, too. The skirt steak had a delicious flavor but was a little charred for our taste. Lastly, the Spatzle was a little too non-traditional to get a thumbs up. The adults had some lovely cocktails from their creative cocktail menu and we all loved the two desserts we shared! Very mellow, friendly and attentive service from the waiters and staff. Great dining experience!

This place is fantastic. The food was excellent. I went with a group and we split small plates. I highly recommend the bacon buns, beef pierogi, and chicken paprikash. Great flavors and presentation. You definitely get tastes of central Europe, but not in an intimidating way for the uninitiated. Great beer and cocktail list. Fantastic Czech beer - I recommend Praga Dark Lager. Excellent atmosphere. The long tables are great for big groups, but still has an intimate enough feel for a date night.

My partner & I were looking for a nice meal on our last night in Chicago, came to Boho on a whim as it was listed under "hot and new" on Yelp. Glad we did!! We arrived when the doors opened at 5pm not sure what to expect. We were the first customers of the night - the place had a nice vibe and the dining room was packed out within 30mins. All the staff we came into contact with were nice and knowledgeable. Our server Amy had tried every item on the menu and we ordered her recommended set: Beef Pierogies Knackwurst in a blanket Spatzle Czech Roasted Duck Dark Chocolate Custard It took a few minutes for Amy to sell us on the Spatzle (beef tongue) because we aren't very adventurous but it turned out to be not scary and totally delicious. In fact, everything was amazing. They should have sat us next to the window because our orgasmic facial expressions would have brought customers in droves. The custard should be renamed Dark Chocolate Crack. I don't know if we ate more than other reviewers but with dinner and two cocktails each it came to $160 before tip which is usually in three dollar sign land $$$. Whatever, save your pennies and go to Boho!

Came here for a date night in the early Fall of 2014 - overall, great food and chic ambience. The menu is a potpourri of Eastern European staples. The pierogis are delicious as are the salt and vinegar chips and the deviled eggs. For entrees the grilled chicken paprikash is a seasoned beauty. The skirt steak is delicious too, medium rare. A great addition to River North and really fun in the summer if you can streetscape-view seating.

Very very good. When I typically think German / Polish / Hungarian food, I never think very flavorful (even coming from a German / Hungarian family). The food typically tends to be very startchy and is hard to do right. The Bohemian house killed it. I ordered the bone marrow and beef tartare to start, which was fantastic. I've had bone marrow at several other restaurants and it is sometimes too righ, the acidity of the beef tartare really balanced the fattiness out. For a main I chose the vegetarian spatzle, which was basically gormet mac and cheese...delicious. I would totally go back again, there is plenty on the menu to try!

I was skeptical when I read the early, glowing reviews of BoHo and its "upscale," "sexy" chicken paprikash and peirogis (is that even possible??)... but figured the buzz meant it may worth a try for my (Hungarian) boyfriend's midweek birthday dinner. All I can say is: WOW! The food was delicious and presented beautifully -- and the design / ambiance in the space is fantastic. The two of us ordered ambitiously -- getting the salt and vinegar chips with horseradish onion dip (great), bacon buns (okay), knackwurst (great), bone marrow and steak tartare (amaaaaaaze nommmmmm!), and (of course) the famous chicken paprikash (savory, succulent, and a little spicy -- sooooo good!!). Portions were generous but not gigantic... We easily could have ordered 2 apps and 1 entree for the both of us to share had it not been a bday affair. To top off a great meal, our lovely server Kendra brought by a comped dessert (dark chocolate custard with salted caramel gelato... Heaven!). We'll definitely be back to try the spaetzel and peirogis. In the meantime, my verdict is: highly recommend!

Excellent dinner. I started off with the strawberry basil martini which tasted like summertime fresh strawberries off the vine despite the premature arrival of winter outside. Then we moved on to a couple of small plates--the pierogis first (very good, but probably one of the least favorite dishes of the night...there was some spice in it that I couldn't place that overpowered it for me), followed by the potato pancakes (real good, damn good according to my husband--I liked the actual pancakes but don't care for salmon so they weren't my cup of tea). For main dishes, we had the chicken paprikash, duck and schnitzel. All were excellent--chicken had a little bit of spice and was cooked perfectly, duck was fall-off-the-bone-melt-in-your-mouth, and the schnitzel was perfectly fried with a nice warm potato salad. The decor and service were also fantastic. Would definitely head back!

The horse radish salt and vinegar chips are amazing! Highly recommend! I came here on a Monday night and it was fairly empty when we started eating at 6:00, but by 7:00 it was a lot more lively and crowded. The food here is pretty heavy, but that's what you should expect for eastern European food. The chicken paprika was amazing, and tasted even better on my salad the next day. The ravioli was also very good, highly recommend it! They have tons of great draught beer selections. The Weihenstephaner Vitus is amazing, and probably one of the best golden beers you'll have ever have. Don't miss out on it.!

Came with for a friend's birthday this past weekend and the food selection was amazing. Salt and vinegar chips tasted fresh and crisp and the bone marrow was superbly flavored. We decided to order a few dishes and share. Probably not a good idea for more than 2 people as the dishes aren't meant to be shareable. The grilled chicken had an amazing sauce, the salmon garnish was delicious and the duck was cooked so well and had such a great variety of flavors. Finally for dessert, make sure to get the chocolate custard if you love chocolate. It was the best chocolate dessert I have ever tried and would go to Boho again just for that. The atmosphere is really vintage and I loved the scene. The lights were a little too dim for me and there is a lot of noise. Probably not the best place to go for a dinner date during Saturday nights, but definitely a place to go with a group of friends or co-workers. Came back on a Wednesday night and the service was super fast. Tried the steak and perogies and they were delicious! Great flavor, great spot!

We were really impressed by this place. We ordered the roasted beets, spaetzle, pork schnitzel and the apricot kolacky, and every dish was an absolute knockout. It had a really fun and romantic atmosphere, the drinks were fantastic, and our waiter was great too. We are definitely going back to try the brunch menu--this is a great date spot!

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Overall, a really fantastic dining experience. Firstly, the food. Over the course of our evening (two people), we had three small plates: bacon buns, deviled eggs, and potato pancakes; one large plate: pork schnitzel; and the chocolate custard desert. Plus, two drinks, which were strong in both flavor and alcohol content. Total cost (including tax and tip) = $55 per person. The bacon buns were exactly like you might expect - comforting and indulgent. The deviled eggs were a unique spin on an old favorite, with lots of texture and flavor - I really loved these. The potato pancakes were super crispy, served with salmon and other toppings (I've forgotten now) - one of my boyfriend's favorite choices of the night. However, the pork spaetzle was by far my favorite dish. It came with a grilled lemon to squeeze atop, so it was interactive and also helped cut through the salty (brined for days), breaded pork. It was so, so good. Lastly, we also shared the decadent chocolate custard topped with a caramel ice cream. If you are a super-sweet dessert lover, you must try this! Overall, this was a perfect amount of food for two people, and it was recommend by our very helpful and sweet server, Megan (I think - I hope that was her name). Speaking of the service, we were thoroughly impressed with the attentiveness of all staff. I think that at some point, we were helped by almost all staff members. It really seems like this is a collaborative restaurant atmosphere, which I enjoyed. Both the head chef and the sous chef brought us dishes at some point, making sure that we were enjoying our meal. It was honestly above and beyond the experience at most restaurants of this caliber/price. At one point, the bus boy (or maybe a server's assistant? I'm not sure) brought us a new decanter of cold water simply because our previous bottle had become warm (without our asking!). The little details really make this place special. You can get a good idea of the vibe and decor of this restaurant from its website, which is great. I really appreciate that their website and photos here on yelp actually align with the true experience of dining here. Beautiful reclaimed wood tables and exposed beams everywhere. Most of the restaurant is geared towards group seating - think family style gourmet - but there are some spaces for couples to squeeze in without feeling out of place. We went on a Thursday night (with reservations) and by 8pm every single seat in the restaurant was taken, so this place seems to be doing really well. Many Chicagoans will know that the lifespan of a restaurant can be very short lived, with many potentially amazing restaurants closing within a year. I seriously, seriously hope that does not happen with Bohemian House. I am preemptively terrified that this restaurant will close - is that crazy?! I don't think I've ever felt this way about a restaurant before. Genuinely, I really hope this restaurant succeeds because 1) it is doing everything right, 2) it is a unique addition to the neighborhood and city, and 3) I can't wait to go back and try more of their food, especially as the menu changes over time! P.S. I was not paid to write this review. I just really enjoyed my meal, okay!

Incredible dinner at a great spot! Met up with a couple of girlfriends for drinks and dinner. Luckily we were all pretty hungry, so we also got to try some of the starters. Bacon buns--so good! They are a bit salty, but the marmalade they come with really evens that out. Tartare--while not the best tartare I've ever had, it was pretty delicious. You could definitely make an entree out of this if you aren't starving. Chicken paprikash--I especially liked their sauce for this entree. The dumplings were different than what I'm used to, but equally good. Had enough leftover for lunch the next day. My friends each ordered a different entree: spaetzle, steak, and pork schnitzel. Not a single complaint from anyone. Actually, all we could talk about was wanting to come back again. Service was friendly, ambiance was fun, and I love the interior. Still a nice place for the neighborhood, but without the stuffy, overly trendy factor. I thought pricing was fair based on location, portion size, and taste. A drink each, a glass of wine each, 2 starters, and 4 entrees...our total was just above the $200 mark. The only reason I docked a star is because I thought the cocktails were too sweet.

They have a small but varied menu and our party of 4 split just enough dishes to leave extremely satisfied. The food looked so good that we ate it all before I could even snap any pictures. We started off with potato pancakes, bone marrow and steak tartare, and beef pierogis. Then moved onto spatzle, pork schnitzel, skirt steak, and chicken paprikash. Everything was so good but standouts for me were definitely the bone marrow and the beef tongue spatzle. One of my friends loved the chicken. Cocktails were also well mixed and complimented our meal. Coming from out of town, I'll dare to say I'd rather eat here again than at Girl and the Goat. I hope they rotate their menu once in a while to change things up.

Super cute place! Food was good! I had the duck, which was very tender, 5-10min cooked too much however. My boyfriend had their famous dish, I forgot what it was, I believe the chicken, tasted amazing! Also had an amazing app, and their drinks were unique. Also, staff was very good at always refilling water and coming to our table to make sure all was good. Would come again!

Last time I went to a central Europe fine dining restaurant is when I'm in primary school... Both experiences are wonderful, maybe my stomach is born for central Europe cuisine :) Will come back definitely! I got Chicken Liver On Rye as starter and Chicken Paprikash as entree. The Chicken Liver On Rye is amazing. Foie gras and apple cider are classic perfect partners, but the great innovation point is they used pumpkin flour toast and fresh crisp peas to balance the richness of foie gras and apple cider. Never imagined this combination before, 100/100. Chicken Paprikash is totally different from my imagination. It's so mild, almost not spicy, in a yellow creamy paprika source. Love strong/spicy/red Hungarian style more, but still quite good. The amazing part is the chicken. Can't agree Casey more that most U.S. chicken dishes are plain and dry but this one is totally different. 85/100 My friend had the Czech Roast Duck, I tried a little bite, oh my gosh. Skin was perfect crispy, meat perfect tender and seasoning perfect perfect. Kind of sweet but can't really tell what's inside the complex recipe, anyway perfect perfect. Next time will come for it!

OMG. Czech please! No--wait--let me eat first. This place is awesome. I came here on a Monday--empty--and a Thursday--it was tough to even find a seat--so your experience is going to depend on what day you go. But GO--this newcomer is very special. Starting with decor that is both understated and over-the-top, art-nouveau in a Prague-spring sort of way. Very warm earth tones along with some kitschy touches--like sewing machines perched on top of nic-nac racks. But no-one comes here to look at the decor (wait, I do!). How was the food? The deviled eggs are a terrific dish to pair with your cocktail--rich, decadent, with smoked whitefish and crispy shallots adding crunch to every bite. Maybe you're supposed to share but I ate the whole order. Same with the potato pancakes--the size of quarters, they were delicious, tasting of apple sauce & dill. Beef pierogies were also delicious, with the rich deep flavor of beef pairing well with the homemade dumplings. Then came a plate of spatzle and beef tongue. Let's say you've never had tongue before, this would be the dish to order. Get over your fear of tongue! Here it comes as diced chunks amidst the spatzle, which are light as a feather. The tongue is beefy, tasty, fantastic. This dish is served with a pitcher of melted cheese, which I don't think is strictly necessary, but if you like rich and decadent, go ahead and pour. The result is over the top. For dessert, 3 kolacky with powdered sugar and macerated plums were terrific, light and sweet. I didn't taste any poppy seeds that were supposed to flavor the syrup, so maybe they could up the poppy seed quotient a little. All in all, this well-thought out newcomer is a real addition to Chicago's dining scene.

Made a reservation for a late Friday dinner date. We had: - drinks - Infused fashion and fashionably Czech - appetizer - Hungarian langos, out of this world good - his entree - Grilled chicken paprikash - my entree - spatzle, a solid vegetarian dish, only one on the menu but don't let that turn you away! - dessert - didn't care for the doughnuts but the coffee gelato made it all worth it I would definitely come back here. Great food, service and ambiance.

Amazing, quaint little addition to the River North area! We tried the spatzel and potato pancakes topped with salmon... both were unique and amazing! The decor is hippy chic and really fun. Perfect for a girls night out and cozy enough for a date night. I cant wait to go back when there's snow on the ground, the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. :)

I never knew what Bohemian food was, but darn was I surprised, this place is pure gold. It is a fun place to go with a group and share plates as they have a great variety of apps and entrees. The atmosphere is great, if I had a girl who would want to spend time with me I would definitely bring her here on a date. I'm a little sad this place is about to get very popular as it might mean longer wait times. The Chef is a mastermind at what he makes. If I could make one suggestion it would be that the chef offers cooking classes once a month so I can learn to make this food at home. Nate was a server, hilarious mustache and hilarious young dapper man. Also, ignore Tom P's comments below as he seems like an asshole and I think the 4.5 star average speaks for itself, I think you should try the place again, Tom P.

BoHo nails it from the cozy atmosphere, to the attentive service, and the amazing unique menu - this place is one of my new favorites. My only regret was that I couldn't try everything in one sitting! My boyfriend played it kind of safe and got the skirt steak, it was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful, but it paled in comparison to the pork belly spatzle I ordered. This spatzle dish was honestly one of the best meals I have had in Chicago to date. The pork belly was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The spatzle is covered with a pork au jus table side. I could go on and on about how delicious it was, but then I'd never get to tell you about the cheese kolacky with apple cider jam. The cheese kolacky was light and fluffy, while also soft and cheesy. The apple cider jam paired perfectly with the cheese. They served three, but I could probably eat about a thousand of these little pieces of heaven. It was practically a religious experience. BoHo - I'll be back!

One of the best places I've been in Chicago in a long time. The inside is cozy and different than most restaurants in that area, and the food was amazing. The salt and vinegar chips were really good. The salad, potato cakes and duck were all perfect. Plus their version of an Old Fashioned was delicious as well. The staff was amazing from the host to the chef coming out and greeting us. This place is definitely a gem. I will be frequenting it again.

This restaurant is terrific! I would highly recommend it! Very creative menu, unique flavors beautifully prepared. Service was exemplary and the entire staff very attentive and considerate. I am not a service person, but the service here was awful, I was at an empty bar for 10 minutes before anyone noticed me. Our waiter also seemed to want to get us in and out as quickly as possible. A little disclaimer I just moved back to Chicago from berlin and my family is polish so maybe my expectations were just too high when it comes to the food. We had the pierogi's , which we other found pretty heavy. I never really understood how on top chef they always say things needed more texture, but I thought they needed something to add texture and something fresh for brightness. I also had the skirt steak , just because I love skirt steak. It was fine but again a lot of mushiness and sweetness with the caramelized onions + sweet potatoes and also not sure how that was boho inspired , I guess the horseradish thrown on top? But I couldn't even really taste it. The other thing disappointing is the wine list with all the whole Eastern Europe theme you would think you would find at least one german, Austrian, or Hungarian wine o the menu, such a good opportunity lost,

We had a great experience at BoHo last night! The place has a beautiful decor, the atmosphere is very relaxing. The food was amazing: I had salmon and it was perfect, order it and you won't regret, my husband had chicken paprikash and he enjoyed it. The service was great too!

Go eat here immediately. And then go again and again because it's delicious and the menu changes often. Had the duck with cherries and hazelnuts recently. Amazing. Get the beet salad if it's on the menu. They tweak the details regularly but it's consistently good.

Excellent restaurant! We were visiting from San Diego and decided to eat here as we have family who are Czech. The food was delightful! When I asked how the pork schnitzel was prepared the server brought the sous chef to our table to talk with us. I was definitely impressed! Everything was wonderful - food, service and atmosphere. I highly recommend!

I would have loved to see how their food was but I was asked to leave the bar before I could eat. I was ready to order a meal with my family and I did not order a drink. She came back with both of their drinks and proceeded to ask if I was 21. I replied that I was not and she said I was not allowed to sit at the bar. My family operates restaurants all over the country including several in Chicago and that is not the law. We also had priorly dined at multiple other places the same day and sat at the bar with no concern. I was very excited to try their food because they have a very interesting menu, but after that experience I will not go back. I DO NOT recommend this restaurant if you want to have a good hospitality experience.

As they say in the old country, ausgezeichnet. First of all, we were about an hour late due to a flight delay and BoHo was super accommodating with the constant push back. The decor and vibe were perfect for the evening, everyone working there was friendly and helpful, a great start from the entrance. We started with the beef tartare and bone marrow. It was a big step for me in food adventures and was well worth it. I had the grilled chicken paprikash and he had the schnitzle. Very large portions, perfectly seasoned, full of flavor and great presentation. If I could have eaten it all, I would have. But had to try dessert (it was my birthday after all). The dark chocolate custard was the most amazing combination of chocolate with salted caramel. The perfect end to the evening. I love trying new restaurants and rarely want to go back to a place I've been because there are so many places to try. But for BoHo, I will make an exception to my rule.

I've just sat down on my table but I'm already in love with this place! Thank you, Nicole for transforming my Saturday night! Maybe it's the cocktail you crafted for me that's talking, but you've made me a patron of BoHo before I even ordered my meal :)

I was incredibly satisfied with both the vibes and the food. Service may have taken a tad bit on the long side but everything was well worth the wait. Highly recommend the salt and vinegar chips and the skirt steak. The bohemian bee cocktail was also a crowd pleaser

New and welcome opening in River North. Amazing small dishes great for sharing or entree alike. Stellar list of tailord cocktails. Boho is low key and classy. A beautiful, hidden venue serving timeliness European classics. Would highly recommend the house vinegar kettle chips and the bone marrow / steak tartare combination. We stopped in from California and knew we had to try this place during our trip. It certainly didn't disappoint, and I wish all the success for this new opening. Can't wait to come back to try some larger dishes. While classy, still remains casual and not stuffy.

The Purple Pig was crazy packed and WAY too noisy for my friend and I so we did a quick search on Yelp and asked a few friends. The Bohemian House was recommended, close, and had tables open. What a GREAT choice! The server was crazy polite and took her time to explain all the dishes. My friend had the skirt steak (very tender and delicious) and I took everyone's advice to get the chicken paprikash. Now I know why everyone raves about this dish! We shared our entrees and it was plenty of food for dinner. I'll keep this in my wheelhouse if I'm ever down on the magnificent mile again!

Great place! It is not authentic German but the food and service here are good. We ordered bone marrow steak tartare and knackwurst for appetizer, I had the skirt steak, my colleagues had chicken papriksh and pork schnitzel for entrees, apple strudel, blueberry kolacky and dark chocolate for dessert. Everything tastes delicious! If you like a cocktail go with the Mule (on the sweet side). The service was good too.

  • Jason V.

I had a decent meal at Bohemian House but found the place to be a puzzling selection for Eater's 38 Essential Restaurants of Chicago. My table only lukewarmly received their cocktails with the Hospoda Mule (with refreshing notes, more sour and less sweet) being the best of a weak field. It bears mentioning that the server did replace one of the cocktails after a guest voiced his displeasure. It's good to see the staff empowered to make those kinds of decisions. Among the starters, the Slow Roasted Beets were light and served as a good appetizer. The strongly-recommended Beef Cheek Pierogis, however, were overcooked, leading to a dry and tough interior. Among the entrees, the Schnitzel was mostly bland save for the little bit of mustard provided on the side. Dessert in the form of the Dark Chocolate Custard was a relative highlight--providing a rich chocolate taste without being overly sweet. At first I thought maybe I just didn't have the experience or taste of Eastern European fare to make a proper evaluation, but my fellow diners (much more experienced in such cuisine) all agreed with my assessments.

I have now been to BoHo three times, two of which were for dinner, and every time it was a great experience! Even as a vegetarian, I really enjoyed the food. The different couples we went with were blown away by what they ordered and one of them even went back a couple weeks later. I love their Langos! You can't get them anywhere else in the area. My husband loves their Chicken Liver and Pork Schnitzel. The service is always top notch and the atmosphere is kitchy and rustic. They have a great drink menu to stop in and enjoy for happy hour as well. My favorite place to sit for drinks during the summer is on the couches by their huge front open windows.

This restaurant is beautiful. What a great place to enjoy dinner with some friends. The service is excellent, the food is delicious. It is a bit pricey, but worth it for the experience. For the appetizer I had the deviled eggs, delicious. By far the best deviled eggs I have ever had. Very tasty, great to share with my friends. I also had the bone marrow and steak tartare, the most expensive appetizer on the menu. It was different and unique. However, the bread was a burnt. It was not toasted, it was black, it was a little disappointing. For the entrée I had the grilled chicken paprikash. It was so delicious and a huge serving. I would come again for this dish and to enjoy the ambiance with friends. It was very filling. I also tried my friend's pork schnitzel-I will definitely be ordering that next time I come to this restaurant. The service was great. My friend made a reservation and they seated us promptly, by a beautiful wall decorated with plates. The server was excellent, very amiable and knowledgeable about the menu. They also frequently refilled the water and promptly assisted my friends and I with requests. Although one of my my appetizers were burnt, this restaurant provided excellent service, and it is a beautiful restaurant. I will be coming back.

This place is out of this world!!!! I couldn't have been happier with my experience. We started with the steak tartare and bone marrow which was savory and delectable. Then we got the beet salad (which they said was "different than your average") and it truly was! The texture was great and had many different components. Finally, for apps we got the beef cheek perogi which was so tender. For main dishes we all shared the spatzle, pork schnitzel and duck breast. The duck was by far my favorite. Cook to perfection. The other two were delicious as well, but the duck stood out especially with its flavors. The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is fantastic. I cant wait to come back!

In this case I had expectations and...they were exceeded. I love the Germanic style and BoHo serves the style with justice. The food choices were right...and proper...and tasty. It does not hurt that they feature a Sazerac on the menu. Not Germanic but a rare treat for me. The atmosphere is trendy. The decor is somewhat rustic. The service is friendly. We could have done more damage but, it was unfortunately, Sunday night.

I was extremely pleased with my experience here. Came with a group of friends and ordered a couple drinks from the bar first. Courteous, prompt service + perfect cocktail. After being seated - our server was SO attentive; it really felt like she cared about our experience there and did everything she could to explain/guide/recommend/deter based on our preferences. I ended up getting 2 apps to serve as a meal: the potato flour bread with melted cheese and the short rib pierogi. Holy christ, were they amazing. Sometimes you get super tasty food, but it's not satisfying in a primal way - this was not the case at Boho. I felt so happy eating their food and so satiated after, but not gross. My boyfriend loved the duck entree too, and my friends raved about their bone marrow and beef tartar app. We didn't have room for dessert, and it's the only thing I regret about that evening. I will be back!

Go here. It's cool. (unless you are vegan). Right in the heart of a touristy section but feels like traditional Chicago and old world. Good Spatzle and (according to my wife) Pate. Nice mixology and good beer and spirits selection. Well worth a stop in the granola selection of hard rock et al.

BoHo was AMAZING. The atmosphere, food, and service were all phenomenal. The price is pretty fair for the quality of food you are getting. The owner, Dan Powell, is passionate about his restaurant and it is shown in the details of the menu and the ambience of the restaurant. I would highly recommend perusing their drink menu, the chicken paprikash, and the coffee and donuts.

I came here for girls night out. Another gf and I ordered drinks first at the bar since we arrived early. My old fashioned drink was a little sweet, strangely. The three of us ladies finally got seated. Wow, such an unengaging server we had from start to finish. The first time he came over was to ask if we were ready to order. No, we weren't ready because we were chatting but yes we also did give the menu a glance. Though I expected the server to ask if any of us had been there before and at least to offer to walk us through the menu? Zilch. Between the three of us in our party, it was everyone's first time. The next time he came back, he took our order since we were ready to order. No personality from him, just straight to the point (well at least he said my roast duck breast entree was a "good choice"). When he came back to check in (which was not very often), was also very straight to the point and felt very disengaged. I honestly wanted to order another old fashioned but decided to have my second drink somewhere else. Food wise - I ordered the tomato salad on special. It tasted very earthy, for the lack of a better word. I did like it as it was very refreshing. My roast duck breast was just fine, not the best I've. had It was done more like medium instead of the usual medium rare like how I'm used to with duck. The server didn't ask how I would like it done and since he didn't ask, I assumed it would be prepared medium rare as with most places. My fault, maybe I should have said I wanted it medium rare. I reallyx2 liked the coffee + doughnuts dessert. The doughnuts were warm and freshly fried. Not sure yet if I would return. I wouldn't be opposed to it if a friend suggested dinner here but I probably wouldn't pro-actively suggest on my part.

Ambience: The decor and environment is awesome! The exposed brick, plates on the wall, barn doors are now all visions that I have for my future, dream home! I want this rustic restaurant to be my living room. Service: I've only ever sat at the bar, but the bartenders are great! They're helpful, attentive and give great meal/drink suggestions. They'll even let you sample some drinks, if you're really torn. Drinks: Bohemian Bee - DELICIOUS! Mmmm gin Starters: I would 100% recommend the Beef Cheek Pierogi! So flavorful and complex! I wish they would have a larger one that I could just eat for my entree. We came back again and got the deviled eggs and Hungarian Langos. The Hungarian Langos was good but far too salty for my liking. Stick with the Pierogis! Entrees: Skirt Steak was also very good, but not as memorable as the Pierogis. Roasted Duck Leg was great, I enjoyed it much more than the steak. It was moist and also had a complex arrangement of flavors! The salmon is great and he veggies it comes with are so flavorful. The pork schnitzel was crispy and delicious as well! Desserts: We ordered the Coffee & Doughnuts, which was absolutely nothing special. The coffee gelato was tasty, but I wish I had used that extra stomach space at the end of our meal to give the deviled eggs a try, instead. All in all, it is an excellent restaurant that deserves 4.5 stars! I'll be back!

This place was a total home run! I'm still shocked that it didn't have a line out the door on a Saturday night - the food, ambiance, and service were some of the best I've experienced. I'm surprised we were so easily able to snag a reservation at 7:30pm on a Saturday! If this place existed in Los Angeles, you would easily need to reserve a spot a week in advance. Let's start with the ambiance - the decor is well done, with touches of "bohemian" flare (tiles, wood tables, lanterns), and dark lighting. They have communal picnic tables, or regular style tables for 2-4 people. Sometimes I don't mind communal tables, but I much prefer getting my own table, especially if on a date with my husband. We were lucky enough to get one! Service: Our waitress was spectacular. She knew the menu really well and understood the food and flavor combinations - her suggestions were on point. She was perfectly attentive without being overbearing. Food: I've never been completely sold on eastern European food, but the modern twist on the cuisine that BoHo takes changed my mind. Starters - We got the house made pretzel with a cheese (gouda? if I remember) topping and bratwurst, with a mustard sauce. Delicious!! My husband would have ordered 3 more of these if he could. I also got the beet salad, and the beets were roasted to perfection! For entrees - My husband got the Schnitzel and raved about it the entire time. It was the best schnitzel we've ever tasted, and that includes schnitzel in Austria and Germany. I got the king salmon, which was perfect - the cook on the salmon was amazing (finally, a place that knows how to cook salmon!!), and the sweet corn puree was to die for. Fantastic. Dessert - as usual, we got dessert. My husband got the coffee and doughnuts, and I had the strawberry rhubarb kolacky. Wow. If you think their main food was good, make sure to get dessert. The pastries were so delicious, I was sad when we finished it all! The doughnuts were soft and warm, and the kolacky was sweet and delicious. Amazing experience in Chicago!

I just had an amazing experience at BoHo...the food was great, but the service and attention to detail by the bartenders was exceptional. Care and Jason made me feel completely comfortable dining alone at the bar...their continuous attention to my needs made me not miss a beat of the phenomenal vibe that this restaurant exudes...I will likely comeback for the delightful food, but will wholeheartedly come back to sit at the bar with Care and Jason...thanks for a great night! Unusual decor. boHo food with a twist. The must haves: Deviled eggs. Bacon buns, Potato pancakes, all delish. Great drinks, I ordered the Manhattan.....yum. all entrees are lip-smaking good. You can't go wrong. Imho, spatzel and chicken are amazing.

Honestly, this has been one of my favorite dining experiences in Chicago. And that says a lot coming from me--ask any of my friends how seriously I take my dining experiences and you will know that I mean business! First, we got stuck on a boat tour for longer than expected and they were so nice to keep letting us change our reservations, no questions asked, no attitude, no nothing. It was so nice to have that type of experience with a restaurant and we hadn't even gotten there yet! And then the ambiance of this place...well WOW. Just WOW. It is so beautiful inside with its chic repurposing of old dressers and things like that in the bar area to hold glassare and liquor, the large mirror hung on the wall and then decorated with plates and things to make it like a large dining table hanging as art, the lighting, the great lounge area in the front with those blue couches...just stunning really. The food also just continued the experience. We wanted the bacon buns which I guess were taken off the menu, but our server managed to get us some of the last ones that the kitchen had and they were such a great start to our meal of fun. Then I got their beef cheek pierogi that was out of this world. And my friend actually ended up ordering his own order after I shared a bite with him. So much flavor in every bite!!! And then that spatzle my goodness. With carmelized onions and fava beans it was perfection. I don't even like mushrooms so I wasn't going to order it, but so incredibly glad I did since it was amazing. The slow roasted king salmon was also just so buttery and smooth and wonderful too. I'm telling you everything was amazing. Then there was dessert...that dark chocolate custard with candied peanuts and cocoa tuile was the perfect end to our meal. I am glad we got two orders to share between the four of us because it was already hard enough to share this dessert with one other person. I definitely will be back. 5 stars. Boom.

Came here on a Wednesday night with my aunt and brother. We're all from Chicago so wanted to try something different, and this place is right in the heart of town yet feels a bit off the beaten path. Cool modern yet classic kitcheny decor, open windows to enjoy the breezy summer night. Ordered their version of an old fashioned, which came with house made vanilla sour cherry bourbon - quite delicious and hit the spot after a long day at the office. For appetizers we ordered the Langos (must. try.) which was basically deep fried dough topped with some sour cream/cheese and topped with aged Gouda, and some beef cheek pierogi. Definitely would order the bread again, the pierogi were good but reminded me more of a beef stroganoff than a typical pierogi. For dinner- I ordered the chicken paprikash and my companions both ordered the schnitzel. The chicken had a nice flavorful skin with the classic grill Char you need, over a bed of potato dumplings. Hearty and flavorful. The schnitzel was amazing (wish I had ordered that, but wanted to try more dishes.) All were big portions and well seasoned, so much flavor I couldn't stop eating. Service was good, I'd definitely return. Thanks boho!

For my birthday I wanted German food since I missed authentic German Schnitzel. The food was great but what impressed us most was the duck breast. Very fresh, savory and tasty. Next time we visit Chicago we will definately have it again. We loved the place very laid back, romantic and eclectic.

Boho is like a person with a pretty face but not much else going on upstairs. Nice to look at, but no substance, and looks will only get you so far... I arrived with high expectations for the food because of all the yelp reviews I skimmed. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? The food: Deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon- This was the ONLY dish I enjoyed because I love eggs and I loved smoked salmon. Hungarian Langos-Our waitress highly recommended it - fried potato bread slathered with sour cream. It was incredibly greasy and bland. Had there been salt provided on the table it might have been helped a little bit. I didn't care for the consistency. Bone Marrow & Steak Tartare- I'm a huge fan of roasted bone marrow (think Au Cheval), and I'm a huge fan of quality steak tartare (think Gilt Bar)- Boho's combo was a complete failure. It was almost inedible. The Bone Marrow was room temp and completely congealed. Anyone who's had good bone marrow knows it's the best when freshly roasted, creamy, and oily. I could barely spread this nonsense on my toast. The Steak Tartare was bland, chewy, and grey. Both were just so unappetizing and I was incredibly disappointed. They also tried to make it look fancy but sticking raw watercress upright in the steak tartare making them look like stupid little trees. Chicken Liver on Rye- There are several things I hated about this dish. I didn't like that the chicken liver was already spread on the toast- I like them to be served separate so that the diner can dictate how proportion. They slathered a thick layer of chicken liver (that was also bland- why is everything bland?! do they not taste anything before they serve it?!?!) on the toast then threw a bunch of crap on top to make it look "pretty." Good food does not always have to be dressed up like it's going to a party! [The Publican serves their chicken liver on toast in the simplest of fashions- chicken liver pate with a little pickled elderberry on one side of the plate, toast on the other side of the plate. They don't need to do anything else because the pate itself is very delicious!] The other two dishes we sample were the Skirt Steak and Roasted Duck Breast. Again, completely underwhelmed. So underwhelmed that I'm not going to waste anymore time describing them. All in all- the food here is garbage. The 2 stars are for the decor, the wine, and our very pleasant server. Save your money and the room in your stomach for better food elsewhere.

Bone marrow/steak tartare was tasty, and the roasted duck leg was delicious! Pork schnitzel reminded my husband and I of pork katsu haha all in all bohemian house did not disappoint and met my expectations. I wish we were able to try more entrees, oh well there's always a next time. Love love love the interior design! Definitely recommend this place :)

Wow! I almost didn't come. Being gluten sensitive can make ordering very difficult when schnitzel and spatzle are on the list. They have amazing gs choices. I ordered the duck breast; did I mention wow! Price point of $$$ is spot on. Bring a little extra for their amazing drinks! Save room for dessert. Their chocolate custard is just like my very German grandmothers. Talk about tastes that bring back childhood memories.

BoHo has been on my list of places to try for quite some time. It's also my inspiration for what I wish my home looked like....Dark woods, exposed brick, vintage accents, dim and eclectic lighting - what's a girl not to love? As for the food, I'll state what I'm sure you've already heard a thousand times. It's rich, it's decadent, it's comforting and it's eff'ing phenomenal. Nothing ordered between the 6 of us was disappointing. And that's impressive. Not to mention, for a girl who loves her carbs - BoHo is heaven. Between the bacon buns, spatzle, potato pancakes and potato dumplings - I need to spend the next year and half in the gym. Aside from the plethora of dumplings and potatoes, the Chicken Paprikash was utterly ridiculous. The paprika sauce was hot and seductive, yet cool and refreshing with pickled peppers and wilted kale. The chicken itself was tender and smokey. I'm inclined to say that it may be my all time favorite chicken dish. I didn't think things could get better, and then I ordered a Dark Chocolate Custard....and it did. Cocktails were also rant worthy. Every time I turned around, there was a Bohemian Bee, Musa, or Whiskey in Cider being ordered. Needless to say, the robust flavors and sexy blends had me walking out with quite the buzz. Decor - Czech. Food - Czech. Cocktails - Czech. Ambiance - Czech. New favorite restaurant. Czech.

Usually I won't increase a review for atmosphere or decor, but this place was beautiful. Cocktails were quick good and bartender was very flexible. We probably tried 5 between all of us and liked all of them! As far as food... The good: - Potato pancake was savory and well-spiced. - The Bavarian pancakes with tart cherries basically functioned like raisins. I don't usually like cherries and quite liked this. - the Hungarian langos (I may not have the spelling right, it's new to the menu) was accurately described as savory funnel cake. The okay: - Steak and eggs was fine (a little more burned than charred), the spatezel was quite good. - doughnuts were fine but unextraordinary. On a menu with so many good things, I would get something else.

I really love this place!!! Their chicken paprikash is the best! The portion is super large so I shared with my friend. We also ordered Hungarian Langos! This fried potato pancake taste really good! I really love the taste of fennel leaves that garnish the pancake!! The spatzle is awesome too!!! The decals are super cute too!

Truly from start to finish a fantastic experience. I went to Boho on Valentine's night. We were late and it wasn't a problem at all with the efficient front staff. Our server Kalie was about as pleasant and positive as person could be. Most importantly the meal was superb. We ordered 4 appetizers. The duck hearts, bone marrow & steak tartare, beef cheek pierogi, and knackwurst. All were delicious. We were too full so me missed out on an entrée. However we ordered all 3 of the desserts. Also delicious. It's a fantastic place. Highly recommended.

I was really pumped to try BoHo and finally went on a quiet Sunday evening. The decor is charming, dimly lit, and warm = definitely does not feel like you're plopped in the middle of River North klubz. The menu is relatively small but all of the items are really well put together and well rounded. We tried the following: Bacon buns: saw a lot of people posting about these so thought I should try them, but they were just ok, a little dry and not that much filling. Salt & vin housemade chips & horseradish dip: I was skeptical of eating chips at a restaurant like this but these surprisingly were really delicious, with just the right amount of vinegar + a tangy creamy horseradish dip Chicken paprikash & potato dumplings: If you come to BoHo, this is probably the dish you have to try. I'm normally not a chicken person but loved the perfectly cooked juicy chicken, smothered in an amazing creamy paprika-y sauce. The potato dumplings, pickled peppers and kale all perfectly complemented the richness of the chicken. The portions on this guy are big too so perfect for sharing. Pork spatzle: Pork belly is always delicious, combined with chewy spatzle, and again with the perfectly complemented pickled greens & mushrooms made for a really well balanced dish Overall, I was pretty impressed with BoHo and their take on modern Czech cuisine. It's a unique addition to the Chicago food scene and I would definitely recommend you CZECH it out (ha-ha-ha.......... :|)

A group of girlfriends and I went to the Boho House for dinner a short while ago. From the moment you walk in everything is a delight. The ambiance is wonderful, cozy and charming. The service from the hostess to the bar to the server was excellent, and everything we had to eat was delicious. We meet once a month for dinner and drinks, and this stood out as one of our favorite places. We ordered one of almost everything on the menu and not a single thing disappointed. We never felt rushed, or like the server was trying to turn the table, and we really enjoyed our night. At the end of the night we were actually surprised to find the dinner had been so affordable! Not feeling rushed really bears an extra mention. During our dinners, we order multiple courses and multiple rounds of drinks and talk, and enjoy catch up and conversation. So often we feel as though the server is trying to get turn the table for the next party from the appetizers on. Even in some incredibly nice places, we've had people try to clear our plates with food still on them or use other strategies i myself have employed to get campers to move on. As someone who served before I totally understand that when the tables turn you make money, but as much as you might want to turn the table you shouldn't show it. The thing I never understand is, we we always continue to order the entire time we we're there so the server really isn't missing anything. Here we felt welcome to stay and weren't hurried at all, and sometimes being allowed to enjoy our meal and catch up is a pretty wonderful thing.

I love this place. Great vibe, great service, great food. The Good: Grilled chicken paprikash with potato dumplings - awesome!!! -chicken is brined for 2 days, slow cooked, then fast grilled Czech roasted duck with apples, turnips, brandied prunes & smoked hazelnuts - very good, but the Harissa chicken is even better Slow roasted beets - very good Bacon buns - very good - but I would like more bacon

Came for New Years eve. Best perogis I've had and a casual but intimate vibe inside the place. Only downside was that it was a heavier meal that put me to sleep afterwards.

This review is specific to the Brunch Menu. I would probably go 4 1/2 stars if that was an option. The food and service were very good, and I encourage anyone to visit BoHo. We arrived at 10:30am for 11:00am reservation and were seated immediately, it was not crowded on Saturday morning during our visit. The room and tables were nice; it seemed smaller than I expected. I would think it could get crowded at night, but this was our only visit, so far. The waitstaff were prompt and cordial. The beverage list looked very interesting, but we didn't get past coffee, which was strong and very good. We ordered the bacon buns as a first course. They were interesting; good not great. This was the only thing we tried I would probably pass on next time around; some of the other starter items looked interesting and I'd like to try something else on our next visit. For main course we divided down gender lines with both the ladies having the Spring Omelette and both the men ordered the pork schnitzel sandwich. And the BoHo Bacon. Actually two orders of the BoHo Bacon. We all agreed that the main course fare was excellent. The omelettes were light, and served on top of a crispy potato pancake that was really good. The schnitzel sandwich was just outstanding. A big tasty tenderloin cooked just exactly right on top of sauerkraut and a slice of rye, all topped by a fried egg. And the BoHo bacon...indescribably delicious. I guess one complaint here, the quantity of bacon was small. You will want MORE BACON. To finish we had the donuts which were almost as great as the bacon. Maybe the could combine the bacon and the donuts........ Again, four and 1/2 stars, a very good meal, well prepared and served. We shall return.

Maybe the best new restaurant of 2014. Bohemian House is definitely a great addition to River North. The 3 things I usually rate a restaurant on are service, food, and the bar program, and BoHo gets 5 stars on each. The service is actually above 5 stars, they have a phenomenal group there. Aside from those 3 atmosphere is also something to consider, and the atmosphere here is very cool. The decor is tasteful and unique and the most important thing is they don't have a TV. Far too many places in River North, and Chicago in general, are loaded with TVs playing every sport imaginable. Who needs constant entertainment like that. I'm happy just eating, drinking, and conversing with friends. We had many great dishes but my favorites to recommend would be the beets, the pierogies, and the duck.

I eat healthy most of the time, and when I cheat, I cheat HARD! I want a meal that is going to be worth the cheat...otherwise, what's the point right? I was looking for a place to have brunch (and cheat) and came across reviews for Boho. This place did not disappoint! First of all the Pear Sidecar was cold, fruity, and delish. Next came bacon buns...I mean, who invented these? Crazy good!! for my entree I had the pork schnitzel. I opted for a poached egg on top instead of fried, and this dish hit the spot in a major way. The right combo of salty and savory. I could not finish it all because I also had to order the scone. It comes to the table warm and gooey. This place is a 10 on my list. Can't wait to try it for dinner. Thank you Boho for making my cheat day worth it!! I can now get back to my rice cakes.

I walk past BOHO on my way to work everyday and have been patiently waiting for it to open. Absolutely worth the wait! The place has a really cool and comfortable feel and the food was so good. We came in around 10, so it wasn't super busy and the chef came over and talked with us and a few other tables for a bit. He was really nice and told us about the concept and all of the cool stuff that they are curing, smoking and creating in-house, which made eating the food more fun. We tried several small plates and 2 large, and i enjoyed every bite. - The bone marrow with beef tartar and horseradish was awesome, really well balanced and delicious. This was not one of those, on the menu because it's cool things, they really did it right. - Deviled eggs w/ crispy shallots and smoked whitefish. hands down, the best deviled eggs that i've ever had. I would eat these all day. - chicken paprikash was spicy, tender and juicy, everything you would want it to be. - chicken liver pate w/ strawberries was really good. Strawberry added a nice fresh, acidic pop. - potato pancake with house cured salmon. I don't generally care for smoked or cured fish, but all of the dishes that we had were so subtle and balanced, i was really impressed. - Spatzel with smoked beef tongue. I love beef tongue and this one was tender and delicious with a crispy exterior. To those of you who are afraid of tongue, if you had no idea what it was, you would enjoy it. Just know that it tastes amazing. We are definitely coming back to try more food. I was really impressed by how well they executed the all of the dishes that we had and the service was great too.

I think the best thing about this place is it's uniqueness. In a city filled with amazing bars and restaurants, this place is different. The decor is absolutely Bohemian done tastefully and comfortably. I had the strawberry basil martini and it was delicious. Refreshing, not too sweet. We had several small dishes and two desserts and they were fantastic. Modern spins on classic European dishes. The service was wonderful. Great knowledge of the menu and constant attention. I will definitely be back!

Want to sit in an awesome atmosphere, drink some amazing cocktails and have a great meal? This is the spot. I love coming here for a happy drink, a late night drink, or a dinner with my girlfriends. We just ate here in fact and ordered almost the entire menu. I will say my favorites were the knackwurst, salmon potato pancakes, snitzle, and flank steak. We also ordered every single dessert. That was a great decision. Also highly recommend the new seasonal whiskey cider drink! Get here. Fast. And enjoy!

We happened to walk past this lively, wonderfully decorated open air dining room, and without knowing the menu or the then just released rave review in Red Eye, decided to give BoHo a try. Lucky us! First I have to comment on the textural, sophisticated yet whimsical decorating. It's themed without becoming Epcot. The dining room is elevated from the street so you can only see a small amount of the space, and with the unassuming entrance, it feels connected to the outside world, yet private and special. In terms of the food, the spatzel was the best I've ever had! As I'm typing this my mouth is starting to water. Like, I'm going to have to dig through my freezer and find a Lean Cuisine with some kind of European flair. I'm not very good at describing taste with words, but when the tender meat and the, idk, mushroomy mushrooms combined in my mouth it was heaven. The beets are also exceptional. What really impressed me is the service. Mark knew the ins and outs of the menu. I noticed that the spatzel listed differed from the one described in BoHo's write up (I can never not whip out my phone for a sec to see what's up) and Mark described the old way it was prepared and why the new one was chosen. He knew his stuff. This is such a great addition to an area that could use some more exciting food options. Go and you will not regret it!

It makes me so happy to find a place that lives up to the hype! Better yet it's still new and still has so much potential ahead of it. Fantastic food and service and the chef is super friendly - it's great to see the chef out and talking to guests. The staff truly wants to know what you think of the food and appreciated our feedback which was all stellar. All elements of each dish worked so well together and nothing was superfluous. The grilled squash had tons of flavor and was actually quite savory. The smoked walnuts were inventive and would be totally addictive. Duck was gamey in an awesome way, though just a tad on the dry side. Can't wait to see how this place continues to evolve.

Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I loved everything about this place, with one exception: portion size of the entrees. As a party of three we all shared the bone marrow and steak tartar small plate (amazing!) and then each got an entree. I got the duck (again amazing!!!) but quite small. My friend who got the spätzel entree was really disappointed. The flavor and presentation were amazing but the portion for the price should have been listed under small plates. I would recommend BoHo to anyone and everyone, just order two small plates and an entree each if you're more than a party of two.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Walked in on a Saturday night to a restaurant full just from reservations but got a seat at the bar. Ordered the bone marrow tartare combination to start which was absolutely to die for. I could have eaten two of those as a full meal and been happy. Main course was the porn schnitzel which was juicy and flavorful and fantastic. My friend got the deviled eggs, cauliflower salad, and mushroom barley all of which were incredible. The people next to us were salivating over the chicken paprikash. This is one of the most memorable meals I've had recently. Keep it coming!

I went here on a double date and it was a great night. The restaurant itself has beautiful decor and is located right in the heart of River North. It's kind of tricky to find at first (I walked past American Junkie twice before I found the entrance). Apparently that was intentional so they can keep the rowdy River North crowd out of there. The decor is cozy yet modern and chic. Goes well for both a date night or girls night. I started off with a drink at the bar and had their Infused Fashion. Absolutely delicious. I also got some great beer suggestions from the bartender. Apparently both the food and drink menu change almost daily based on what is in-season and/or available. We moved to our table got several small plates to start as apps. The Knaughtwurst, beef perogis and beets (yes, try the beets) were all fantastic. We split them all among the four of us and they were perfect so that we each had a bit or two of each. For entrees, I did the Spaetzel (beef tongue) which had great veggies with it and was very fresh and light tasting especially given how heavy and salty beef tongue can be. My date and friends had the schnitzel which I had a bite of and it was also killer. Someone also had the duck which she absolutely loved. For dessert, I noticed that I had missed the bacon buns with marmalade on the menu earlier. I asked the waiter if he thought that would work as a dessert and he said "hell yeah!" He wasn't lying. The marmalade on top really sets off the whole dish but I could've eat the bacon filled buns by itself too and still gone home happy. My party also order their "donuts and coffee" which was coffee gelato served with donut holes on the side. They were a nice tasty treat. It was a bit pricier than I anticipated but we also ordered a ton of food and drinks. Definitely recommend it!

I am so impressed by this place. Hubby and I were driving and decided to yelp something to eat. We filtered hot and new and this little gem popped up. Everything we've had thus far is delicious. The grilled squash salad, potato pancakes, and salt and vinegar chips. I also had the strawberry basil martini which is also delicious. We are now waiting on our Czech roasted duck. I was so excited about this place I didn't want to wait to write my review. You too should try this place. It's amazing. And take this from someone without a refined palate. I'm usually very bias.

Fantastic service, delectable food, beautiful presentation, reasonable pricing...what more do you need ? Step out and try the new rather than the tried and true and I'll bet this will become a favorite for you the same it did for me. The food was so appealing I kept forgetting to take photos until we already started eating.

Came here on a whim for dinnner on a Wednesday night. Got in without a problem (I suspect they are still new enough that they're not getting crazy traffic). The decor is sort of a eclectic look mixed with the usual River North panache. Focus is sort of a modern twist on eastern european classics. Started with the beef cheek Pierogies, which were absolutely amazing. I mean, I like pierogies but these were over the top, let me lick the bowl, sort of delicious. The broth they were laced with was pure flavor. Next we had the roasted beet salad. I likewise thought this was pretty fantastic. My friend didn't care as much for the caraway vinaigrette, but I thought it kept this from being just a usual beet salad. The walnuts were super smokey, and the molasses (almost crystallized) also added a nice element. We shared the chicken paprikash for an entree; a half chicken, grilled and spiced, and then over a bed of sauce. A different twist on the original, but good. We would have liked some more of the kale and sweet peppers to offset the chicken, more of a garnish than anything. Finally we concluded on the kolacky. Blueberry could have been a bit stronger; I think we may have been better served by the streudel, (I tend to think Kolacky can be a bit too much pastry ratio in general), but again the pairings with lemon curd and the sour cream ice cream, as well as some streusel, were amazing. Beautiful dish. Service was great, (tables were perhaps bussed a little too aggressively, as we were still working on things). Overall an A+ experience. I can't remember the last time I had food that was 1) this delicious 2) so beautifully plated; and 3) that didn't break the bank. A great place to try for something different.

BoHo was a spur of moment dinner spot after happy hour and it was definitely a good choice. Definitely a kind of place where everything is farm style reclaimed wood interiors. Was expecting fair portions of the food/price but since I was pretty buzzed, I didn't care so much. Must admit the food was pretty delicious. The service was fantastic and I almost felt obligated to drink water constantly since they were so persistent on checking in. Bottom line: Don't be fooled by it being next to American Junkie, this restaurant can hold itself with its fine interiors, fantastic food, and great service.

First and foremost, service was amazing. We sat at the bar because we did not have reservations. So glad we did! Caroline was our bartender and she was so helpful. We also met one of the owners, who happened to be bar backing that night. He was also very helpful as far as suggestions. I HIGHLY recommend the vospoda mule. I get some variation of a Moscow mule everywhere I go, and this was by far the best one I have ever had. My boyfriend had the first bourbon drink on the menu and he liked my mule better. We started with two small plates-- the potato pancakes and the pierogies. Both were incredible, but the pierogies might've been the best thing of the whole night. As for large plates, we had the beef tongue and the chicken paprikash. DEFINITELY get the beef tongue! It's not what you think it is, it's AMAZING. Definitely get it! It has a smokey flavor and the texture is like pork chunks. Loved it!!

Really good food, dark chocolate custard is insanely good. Server (Zach) seemed disinterested, which was a bit off putting and reduced it a star. Secondary server and bar staff were great. Would come back if not just for the custard!

Its not everyday you encounter upscale central european restaurant, and I was certainly impressed on the contemporary takes that BoHo did on the classics. I also really liked that the decor created a very low-key open space feel. They also include a section with couches and coffee tables for a more lounge atmosphere as well. We had the bone marrow and deviled eggs to start. The bone marrow was super creamy and tasted really good in combination with the horseradish and tartare. I ordered the chicken paprikash and it was definitely elevated to another level than what im used to. The chicken was tender and flavorful along with the vegetables that perfectly complemented the savory and creaminess of the chicken. My date got the duck and it was fall off the bone tender. The vegetables also added a great sweet and tangy depth to the duck. Overall I was every pleased with these dressed up comfort food dishes and hope to return soon.

Food was amazing! Try the chicken paprikash!! Ambiance is sexy and dim. My coworkers and I had a free time last night!

Service was excellent. The food is a bit overrated, in my opinion. Bacon buns were a bit dry. The pork belly saved the meal (but, who ever gets pork belly wrong?), but the spatzle was slightly salty.

This place was simply put - awesome. From the chefs complimentary tease tasting of pheasant, to our amazing server's attention to our every need, we will indeed be coming back. Our table of four got the bone marrow/steak tartare and the beef perogies, both were simply divine. Then we had two skirt steak dishes, plus the duck and pork belly dishes for main courses. All were flippin' phenomenal. My fiancé had even asked for his skirt steak to come out between 130-132 degrees which he says is between rare/ medium rare (it came out perfectly), and after the dish came out the chef himself came out to talk to our table and asked if the temperature was good. Impressive and high marks all around. Bravo Boho!!!

Excellent!!!! Yummy food, lots of Gluten Free options, amazing waitstaff. We brought our 4 kiddos here, all under the age of 6, and they were treated w respect! All of us loved the interesting food and the duck was by far the favorite of all 6 of us! Definitely worth trying while in Chicago!

With fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, and really tasty food, BoHo is an awesome choice for dinner. It looks like Anthropologie and was packed with trendy groups of friends. My pre-dinner cocktail of whiskey and cider was good, not great, but very drinkable. The roasted beets appetizer was outstanding and the duck was scrumptious! All around a really interesting and fun evening!

BoHo seems like the kind of restaurant you would find in Wicker Park or Logan Square. It has a hip vibe and serves up a unique menu, making It different than the stereotypical restaurants you find in River North. I don't know why I haven't heard more about this place, because it deserves all the rave. The atmosphere is a really cozy and the servers were friendly and attentive. On top of that, the food was delicious. We split the deviled eggs for an appetizer and had the pork schnitzel and chicken paprikash for the main meal. Generous servings and SO flavorful. Loved every bite of it. I'll admit, hearing we were going to a restaurant that served schnitzel didn't excite me initially, but BoHo proved me wrong and exceeded all expectations. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu.

Just opened, Boho House, or Bohemian House, is really just what River North needed! The building is beautiful, with exposed brick, chandeliers, and juilet doors opening onto Illinois. The food was exceptional, and the cocktail menu had such a wide variety of unique drinks. Definitely a must if visiting the city or looking for something new.

came to Chicago for a work meeting and BoHo was close to my hotel. I had the chicken paprikash and it was AMAZING! the chicken was juicy and the sauce was flavorful. Will definitely come back to try other items next time!

This place was exceptional! I figured it would be good based on the other reviews & high Yelp rating, and it did not disappoint. My friend and I had the bone marrow steak tartare, beets, chicken paprikash, and kolaches for dessert. And cocktails, of course. Everything was so delicious! Service was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. I highly recommend this restaurant! In fact, I texted my father about this great place when I left - he's Czech and a bit of a foodie! Can't wait to return!

BoHo is great. Decor is inviting, service attentive and considerate, and the food is out of this world. The beef cheek pirogis appetizer is a revelation.

The slow roasted beets were awesome. Unfortunately the Spatzle was completely underwhelming. The dark chocolate custard was good but not great. If I could rate it a 3.5 I would but gave it a 4 as the service was good.

We had a great New Years Eve dinner here. They had some good warm cocktails that were just the thing since it was negative one million degrees on our walk to the restaurant. The chocolate one was like really dark hard chocolate with a little bit of port wine for bite. The other warm cocktail was like cognac spiked apple cider, light but good. They had a really good beer list too, as you'd expect at a Bavarian themed place. The décor and atmosphere are great too, very cool and.. bohemian. We got deviled eggs as starters, and spaetzle and schnitzel as entrées. All were fantastic.

Fantastic from beginning to end. Dimly lit with unique chandeliers and candles made for a warm and welcoming ambiance. The decor was charming. The restaurant was crowded with a good vibe. Staff was very friendly and helpful. For an appetizer we ordered beef perogis and for entrees chicken paprikash and pork schnitzel. Absolutely delicious!!!!! Desert we chose the dark chocolate custard and apple strudel. Amazing!!! I highly recommend BoHo. It was a wonderful dining experience. We will definitely be back.

I have been to Bohemian House twice now - once with a group of friends and another time with a larger group from work. Each time the service and food were outstanding! The appetizers came out a little too rapidly, but it was alright since we all ate them voraciously anyway. The drinks were perfect. The main dishes were delicious spins on their traditional inspirations. In all, a truly great place when eating in the river north area.

From the second I walked into Boho, I could tell it was a notch-above. The atmosphere is luxe, yet comfortable. The heavy wooden tables, glittering vintage chandeliers and richly upholstered sofas liken it to the set of Joe Wright's Anna Karenina. But there's also a hipster twist, thanks to its chic downtown location. Down-to-earth waiters will describe each dish's journey in colorful detail. We opted to sample a bit of everything, but the standouts were the duck and pierogis. I can't wait to return with a group of friends to luxuriate over creative cocktails and exciting food.

A great addition to River North. You know how some people get hung up on the word "authentic"? I'm no expert on Czech food, but I'm guessing Boho isn't exactly authentic. It doesn't matter to me. It's good grub. We had several solid menu items: beef tartare and bone marrow, potato pancakes, roasted duck, pork schnitzle, chicken paprikash, and the dessert donuts with espresso gelato. Everything was tasty and nicely presented. Just as important to me, the service was excellent. I'm looking forward to our next visit to Boho!

Food & Drinks: 5/5. We had smoked fish deviled eggs, chicken paprikash and duck. All the dishes were excellent. Probably one of the best duck dishes I've ever had. Chicken was also very flavorful. We didn't order drinks from the menu, opting out for some south sides, but it was made great too. Finished our dinner with Becherovka and I only wish they actually had some cocktails made with it on the menu. Service: 4/5. Our waiter was attentive and was very helpful with recommendations. My only complain is that we were seated at the communal table, and by the end of our meal our table was joined by a large loud party. Overall: 4.5/5. Will definitely go back.

It is a rare thing indeed when a chef's vision is fully realized and this is most definitely one of those special examples. I work for Sprint and am a home chef of sorts so when a line cook from walked into my store with his knife kit I asked and was told where he worked and how much he loved it, how highly he regarded the chef and how positive the energy was in the kitchen. I recalled a positive review in the Trib about Bohemian House, but it was this cook's tale that had me online the next day making a reservation. I was rewarded with a beautiful well thought out room, perfect uniforms and a vibe from the staff that was unpretentious and warm. The menu is simple fare elevated. And the positive energy from the kitchen came out on every plate. We started off with draft beers from awell-rounded and undaunting menu, Then moved on to four small plates. Potato pancakes, deviled eggs, bacon buns, and bone marrow topped with steak tartare all of which brought their own flavorful surprises. The only misstep from the back of the house was that all of the deviled eggs were not topped with the cherry bomb relish. We will be back for there is not one thing on the menu I don't want to try.

So, I'm jumping the gun because I haven't even eaten here yet. But I am so happy with the service I received already...and that was from a hostess! When I actually eat here this weekend I will update this on food but so far I am totally pleased. I had an issue with a reservation, which I think may have been my own fault, but Elsie, who took my call could not have been more kind and helpful in trying to resolve the issue. I appreciated her actually making an effort to locate my reservation and then coming up with a couple of alternate options for me without me having to even whine a little. Nicely done Boho...I think I'm in love already. Thank you for actually giving a damn about your customers!

I went to dinner here on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is a bit of relaxed yet upscale dining. The service was excellent with good pacing of the food. The food met the high expectations I had and I was pleased with all aspects of the meal.

Had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar - the pierogi starter was spectacular, and the staff if extremely friendly and personable. The place is only 3 months old, and looks great. A little on the hipster side, but the dishes and combinations are spectacular. Next time I want to try the potato pancakes.

Best dinner out in Chicago in quite some time. I brought a group of 6 friends here and even days later we can't stop raving about the experience! The service was friendly and professional - the chef personally brought out an entree that fell a few minutes behind the rest, and also stopped by our table to chat about the meal in general. The space is beautiful; a really unique combination of homey yet sexy. However, the food is the real star, as it should be! We tried nearly everything on the menu and it was all impeccable. Portion sizes are appropriate for the price, and the booze choices are top notch. I will absolutely be bringing more Chicago visitors here.

Absolutely fantastic! Wonderful rustic European medieval tavern style decor. Beautiful wallpapers and chandeliers. And the chicken paprikash is just out of the world. Service - Fantastic. They remade a drink that one of the pickier in our group thought they had drowned. Just the right amount of presence at the table and they were totally accommodating of separating our check twice after someone accidentally used their corporate card on the first go. Food and drink - Excellent. I grew up in a household that cooked a lot of Czech food and lived in Eastern Europe in college and I thought this place did everything right. The cocktails were original takes on classics and the waiter recommended an excellent beer pairing. Misc/Atmosphere/Price - River North Hubbard Street-area isn't exactly my jam, but it's a pretty accessible location. The atmosphere is pleasant and warm, inviting without being too loud. It's definitely on the high end for price, but I would say for the experience, it was worth it.

  • Sarah G.

Definitely worth it. Finally something different! - Potato pancakes with lox - Beets and candies nuts - Deviled eggs - Beef pirogi - Duck confit (under cooked and under seasoned potatoes + random crunchy nectarine, but duck still so worth it!) All delicious. The best upscale version of Eastern European comfort food I've personally had, and in a hip setting worthy of date night. Easy for all palettes to appreciate. $50pp with one drink each Try it!

We went to celebrate a birthday. the food was hit or miss as well as the service. we had a wheelchair in the party and the staff could not find the key or figure out how to operate the lift. after being made to wait a good amount of time at the bottom of the staircase, a half hearted ''oh sorry about that'' apology was given and nothing was offered to make up for being made to wait. after we arrived at the table the perky server asked, "so what brings you in?" we stated we were here to celebrate a birthday. nothing special was done to acknowledge that. the food. we tried the deviled eggs, beef perogi , pork schnitzel, and chicken paprikash. the eggs were flavorful but a bit too sour. when we first inquired about the perogi, the waitress said it came only with three perogi pieces. Since we had a four person group, we asked if she could bring an extra one. She smiled and said of course. turns out the extra perogi cost us $4. what?! It would have been nice to get a heads up. texturally the perogi were too rubbery and chewy, but the beef was pretty tender and juicy. the schnitzel arrived pink, bland, and soggy. a thick dill sauce smothered and overpowered everything. when asked about the doneness of the meat, the server informed us it was due to pink salt. im not sure i buy that since only the part at the center of the meat was pink. the chicken dish tasted better, tender and flavorful. the accompanying kale was so bitter i almost had to spit it back out. the presentation of the dish was terrible, it looked like someone threw up on the plate. while the server was nice the bus people were hovering. One tried to take a plate that was only half eaten and just brought to the table a few minutes ago. all in all i would not go back for unspectacular food and just so so service. the decor is the only thing that is better than average in this place.

My husband and I went to BoHo for our 1st year anniversary dinner and it was the best food choice in Chicago we could have made! We had the Knackwurst for an appetizer, Pork Schnitzel and Grilled Chicken Parpikash as main dishes, and then our waitress brought out Coffee & Doughnuts for dessert! Every bite we took was better than the last. The service was amazing and the setting, with its dark wood, vintage accents, fun lighting -- perfect for our date night!

Came here for dinner and gave this place a shot, the following is what I had: 1) Potato Pancake 2) Beef Pierogi 3) Rabbit 4) Roasted Duck 5) Dark Chocolate Custard The potato pancake is a must get (sucks if you dislike salmon, but you can always feed it to someone who likes it). The chocolate custard is a nice way to wrap up the dinner. However.....the Beef Pierogi was hyped up but it was just bleh to me. The rabbit was good but a bit too gamy (and I usually like rabbit). The roasted duck is good but it's not a must get. Overall, I'm a little disappointed. But the drinks and services are great.

Unique food! You don't see spots like this everywhere. Highly recommended! The cocktails are strong! While in town, we we're looking for dinner that would be memorable, and thanks to yelp this was a great find. The potato pancakes are a must for starters...absolutely delish! I had the chicken PAPRIKASH (sooo juicy and flavorful) my boyfriend had the pork SCHNITZEL, and both we're fab. The donuts for dessert were freshly made. The decor was very boho-chic, and the staff was super friendly/eager to satisfy. Eli took care of us! Couldn't have asked for more!

This is without a doubt the most decadent restaurant in all of Chicago. Chef Jimmy is an artist when it comes to food . What he can do with complex layers leaves most in the dust . The steak tartare was one of the best things that has ever entered my body . If I could I would make Chef Jimmy my personal chef and have him cook for me morning afternoon and night . They're desserts are delicious and their staff is delicious too. without a doubt I love Bohemian house Chicago .

The chicken with paprika sauce was fabulous! The chicken was so tender and the sauce was peppery. The dark Czech beer on tap was just the right antidote to tame the sauce for the chicken. One of the best dishes I have ever had. Can't wait to return to try other dishes.

  • James S.

A great new concept in River North. Chef Jim has put together a deliciously refined menu full of recognizable ingredients delivering on flavorful eastern euro cuisine. Prices are very reasonable and portions are suitable. Drink menu is genuinely scripted and has solid pairings. Had a few of the Founders "session" IPA All-Day. Service staff is knowledgable and attentive. (Thx Jeska) Seasonal items are quick to move so catch them if you can. This evening I tried many items...all stood out individually as exceptional. Beet salad w/ smoked walnuts, chicken pâté w/ strawberries, pork buns w/ plum marmalade, salt and vinegar chips, knockwurst in a blanket, spaetzle w/ beef tongue, beef cheek perogis, beef tartare w/ bone marrow, pork schnitzel w/ potato salad, roasted duck leg w/ plums and kohlrabi, and espresso ice cream w/ warm doughnuts. Seemed we went meat-centric this go around although plenty of seafood and veggie selections which I'll hit up during round two very soon. Welcome the new kid in town...Great job Chef Jimmy!

This restaurant is fantastic, after only being open for a few weeks I've already been here twice! Boho immediately caught my eye while I was on a stroll with their beautiful yet comfortable decor. The ambiance is warm and inviting which also compliments the fantastic staff. The servers, bussers, and the chef take you on a journey with this amazing food! I definitely recommend going often since the menu changes based on farm grown choices.

I don't even know where to begin in my rave about how amazing my experience was at Bohemian House. Everything from the location, to the service, to the food, made my night an exceptional experience when I stopped in with a group of friends before the official launch of the restaurant. I started off with the Peach Country Cider, and it was DELICIOUS!! they had a wonderful assortment of drinks both draft and cocktails to choose from, and cannot wait to go back to try it again. My drink was perfectly complemented by my entree order, which I ordered the Spaetzle. I went a little outside my comfort zone with this one, as it contains smoked beef tongue, but the braised meat was tender and moist with a crispy exterior, and definitely a must-try for those with a penchance for noodles and meat in a delicious sour cream sauce. I ended the night off with their chocolate custard and caramelized ice cream dessert. There are no words to describe the wonderful taste and texture that left me wanting more more more!! The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable, prices were more than reasonable given the location, and the decor offers an extremely inviting and relaxing mood. I also had the pleasure of speaking with the Assistant GM Daniel Pagano, and would like to extend my sincerest thanks for his part in making my first time a truly wonderful experience. All in all I give BOHO a solid 6/5 stars (5 just doesn't do this place any justice), and BOHO can be rest assured that I will definitely be back, and I will definitely be telling all my friends about this place.

This place is beautiful and a welcome respite from some of the more noxious restaurants of the same size in the area. I feel like I'm always looking for a good group spot and this place was fantastic. We liked our waiter and every plate was thoroughly cleaned of deliciousness like chicken paprikash, pierogis, potato pancakes with smoked salmon, and DO NOT SKIP the deviled eggs.

Excellent food. If you want the monsters portions you find in your cheap hole-in-the-wall restaurant, this is the wrong place for you. However, if you're looking for some really well cooked food in a truly unique environment, you couldn't find a better place. On the flip side, you could easily miss the place as it is a non-descript entry; looks like the entry of a residential building, though the name is written on the glass door.

Delicious food, not bombarded by crowds (yet)... Just go! We had the potato pancakes with cured salmon, bone marrow and steak tartare, spatzle and the chicken. The spatzle had the most delicate flavors, the chicken was ridiculously good, but all dishes were knockouts. Go support a great new spot that's definitely a welcome difference for River North!!

Went there after a friend of mine was given $100 in gift cards to promote the place. Free food usually ends up being bad but this place was almost the opposite. We started with the salt and vinegar crisps (chips) with an oniony-horseradish dip. Perfect portion size for two people. Don't look at the little ramekin of dip and think you need more. You don't! After that we dove into the asparagus salad! I questioned our server on if the spears were going to be green or white. I was thinking white, nope but a very tasty salad nonetheless!! The crispy chicken skin which was supposed to add crunch only added flavor, sadly. Next up were the beef peirogies which our server raved about. Why? Thin little chewy dough pockets with a hint of shredded beef inside. If you're going to call a dish "beef peirogies" there should probably be more than the thought of braised beef inside that little dumpling. Sauce was pretty good, so good we asked for bread to sop it up! We shared the chicken paprikash. Perfect portion for two. Great sauce, not too peppery or over powering as I've tasted in the past. We ordered a few cocktails, their version of a Moscow Mule is meh at best, get some copper mugs and crushed ice and then we can talk. But until then, their version is a watered down mess in a snifter glass. What surprised me was how well my beer paired with every single dish we ordered! Way to go for Belgian styles! Lastly dessert. Espresso gelato with little doughnut holes. The gelato moistened up otherwise super dry little fried balls of goodness. Those babies could use a drizzle of something. Plain ain't getting it. Service was attentive but felt that our server lingered too long at the table. At one point I wondered if she was working or if she was going to pull up a chair and join us. Perhaps it's different on another night but if felt as though that stereotypical Lincoln Park type of crowd had invaded the restaurant. A predominantly female crowd as well.

We live in the area and this place seems to be a well kept secret. We decided to give this place a shot and we were impressed. I had an old fashioned and it was one of the best cocktails in the city. I would suggest ordering the chips, pierogi, and chicken; those were 5 star dishes. We finished off with desert, chocolate custard and a kolocky -- both of which I would reorder. I really hope this menu will evolve during the seasons as we will be back to try some of the same and some new dishes.

What an amazing place! The ambiance was beautiful and the food...I mean the FOOD!! The chef was nice enough to come out and deliver our food which really made us feel that much more special with a description straight from the man that creates these magical dishes! Everything was very reasonably priced considering the location and it was a wonderful experience! Can't wait to go back!

I live a few blocks away from this place but I couldnt get myself to go. We are healthy eaters and the menu in this place had one fish item. The rest are beef, pork and lots of potatoes in the menu. Not a big fan of those. However, every now and I let lose and if I were to do that it has to be worth it. I am a big fan of ox tongue and all my friends who have been here have raved of this dish and of the place in general. So we decided to just go there for dinner. Guess what???? They were no longer serving the tongue, i was ready to just get up and leave. Thankfully, my hubby convinced me to stay. At first I was thinking of getting the pork belly but this place is known for their chicken paprika dish and it did not disappoint. Chicken is the last dish i would order when I eat out simply because... its just chicken. But I am so glad I ordered it. My hubby ordered the canadian walleye and he was raving about it. You know when you go to a restaurant and they charge $32 for a pan friend white fish (aka Perennial) well this is not that place. The fish was seasoned very well, cooked perfectly and garnished beautifully. Both dishes you want to lick off your plate. The flavors, portions and overall quality of dishes were outstanding. The ambiance is great, not too loud, great date place. The service was just ok. Great Food, Good Value. I recommend and I will be back.

Loved it! My husband and I dine out a lot and usually find ourselves saying "good, not great" after trying new places. Not Boho! Sooo great! The atmosphere was chic and sexy, and we immediately liked our server, Kaylee. She was really great at making recommendations like the perogies and chicken parprikash (both YUM!). She also suggested some delicious cocktails like the Mule (also YUM!). I think my favorite thing we had though was the kolochke dessert suggested by a great server who stopped by our table a few times, Manny. Loved him and Loooved the dessert! Honestly a great meal and a great night overall. Go here for your next date night or with a group- FABULOUS!

This restaurant actually has a lot of character for a river north restaurant - the decor is eclectic and cool. The cocktails were ok. I had a strawberry basil martini that tasted like a melted Popsicle. The pierogi, salt and vinegar chips, and potato pancake were good. The service was good. The food isn't something I want to eat regularly though.

We had our small company holiday party here last night. This place was great. Good vibes from the time we stepped in the door. Our group of 9 ordered a few of the specialty drinks off the menu while we waited. The waitress was very sharp and remembered all of the drinks we had ordered without writing anything down. The service side of the business was excellent!!! We ordered and shared our appetizers and dinners topa style. Tried nearly all apps and was happy with them all. The bone marrow was interesting and looked impressive on the plate. The beef pierogis were my favorite but wins all around! Also tried the beets, deviled eggs, potato pancakes and bacon bite things. All very delicious and full of flavor. Duck, Schnitzel, Spatzel, skirt steak and the chicken....OMG the chicken!! My personal favorite was the duck but most everyone else thought the chicken took the top prize! I didn't argue, it was bomb. Very unique experience and I expect to be coming back here more frequently!!

The service was great and the food was delicious! Definitely try either the chicken paprikash, schnitzel or spatzle. The beef perogies are delicious too!

Can't find a thing to complain about. I was 25 min late due to traffic and they held our reservation, which is always a bonus. The menu looked delicious and I wish we had tried more dishes. We started out with the roasted beets and they were delicious. The smoked walnuts were so unique and the beets were tender. I had the walleye for dinner, which was wonderful. I actually enjoyed it much more than the walleye at Kinmont. My friend had the chicken dish, which was rich (without being overpowering ) and delicous. The dumplings that came with the chicken were fantastic. We skipped dessert but I had a great cup of coffee at the end of the meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He had a good sense of humor without being overbearing. Great meal all around.

The best thing there was the bone marrow & steak tartare! Absolutely loved it on the sourdough!! Wasn't a fan of the other items that I tried there, the bacon buns - didn't have much inside the buns, so basically just eating bread, the roasted duck - a bit dry, and the Czech roasted duck - nothing really special about the texture or taste. Their cheese kolacky was fantastic! So flaky and oh so good!! I would definitely go again, if only for the bone marrow!!...which is what I'm basing my review on. I'd be interested to try some of their other dishes though to see if they might be better than the others we tried that I listed. Love the restaurant decor and feel.....very chill, but with an upscale feel that isn't pretentious at all.

I was a little hesitant to head to a self proclaimed "Bohemian" place in River North. I feel like most places in that area are style over substance and consistently overpriced. I'm glad we gave this place a chance. The food was phenomenal. We've explored Eastern Europe and try a bunch of different types of food. This was some of the best, most unique food we've had, Czech or otherwise. The presentation was stellar, the atmosphere is great, and the service is top notch. Our favorites were the duck, potato pancakes, and the schnitzel, the desserts were very good too. My only complaint would be the prices, specifically the small plates. It's what we've come to expect from that part of town. If it was a little cheaper, I could see going to this place at least once a month, but as it is, we'll save it for special occasions.

Went the second week of its inception and as recent as a month ago- great experience both times. Each and every visit hit all the marks for me: friendly, stellar and attentive service, beautiful European ambiance and mouthwatering dishes. I've met and spoken to the owners/managers/busboys/hosts/waiters/bartenders and exceptional (fellow Greek) chef Jimmy each visit because they are all approachable, remember repeat customers and actually give a damn about your experience! The stand-out for me, both times, was the Bone Marrow & Steak Tartare. Get over the name, close your eyes and just try it! Lol, I had to, the first time I went was with a Polish friend who chose everything for me and she insisted I try this. It's a huge bone served with seasoned toast points and the flavors explode in your mouth. The best part, the staff didn't bat an eye when I wanted to take the bone home and make art with it, lol. (I didn't- I forgot). The potato pancakes are addicting as well as the schnitzel. For my belated birthday, I had an argument with one of the managers who insisted on bringing me the coffee and doughnuts when I clearly was in a Stage IV food coma and kept saying "NO!". He insisted we try them, smugly brought them out and even graciously comped them. OMG they were insanely and ridiculously delicious! All in all an incredible experience and one I will introduce more foodie friends to. Management can stop reading now... Let's not even talk about the ridiculous amount of things I want to take home with me that are NOT on the menu: the front door, the hostess podium, the decor in the ladies room and the sewing machines on the wall! ;)

Can only rate based on what my group experienced, which unfortunately does not include food. I made a reservation for 10 people for 7:30 PM to celebrate friends who recently got married. When we arrived, there were 2 people that the restaurant sat at the table they reserved for our group. We waited and waited and some of us even had to sit at a separate table while we wait for the two people to leave (they lingered even if they had desserts already and paid their bill). Why the restaurant sat two people at a table for 10 that has a reservation for a wedding celebration especially when there were atleast four vacant smaller tables when we arrived? Absolutely no rational excuse! The restaurant would rather let a group of ten people wait for 1.5 hours than inconvenience those two people, who completely did not care that there is a group waiting for the table and refused to move to the smaller table. WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER!

Pleasantly surprised! Not a cuisine I'd have sought out, but BoHo was wonderful. Group of 6, tried multiple things, all delicious. Especially liked potato pancakes with salmon also the beef cheek pierogi. Others also very good. Entree skirt steak very tasty. Chicken paprikash was excellent as was the spatzle. We'll definately be back. Great spice, excellent sauces, reasonable wine selection.

Great new restaurant! I went here for my birthday and had a wonderful time. the waitresses, hostesses, and bus boys were very friendly and attentive. The drinks were very good, there was a limited number of options but a wide variety. The potatoe pancakes were very good and the perogies were almost as good, I wish they were crispier. I had the Spatzel and that was good but the best item of the night was the chicken, usually a safe option but done spectacularly here. I would return to this restauran The atmosphere was exciting and no music to drown out conversation.

Living in Chicago definitely presents itself with MANY options when it comes to dining out but I thought I would give Boho a shot. Upon walking in, I was very impressed with the atmosphere and how I didn't have to scream to talk. The servers were very attentive and the food was super flavorful. I was also shocked that a restaurant in Chicago actually cares about it's customers. I left feeling full and happy and will be returning again many many times. Well done Boho!

Traveling to Chicago and found this place on Yelp. Hard to find without signs but totally worth it. The food here at the hidden gem is unreal, the drinks are great, and the service puts it over the top. Do yourself a favor and stop in for dinner.

We had a wonderful meal there last weekend. Service was great, friendly, and helpful. We had the pirogies, roasted beets, chicken paprikash, and spatzel and each dish was wonderful. The sauce on the pirogies was to die for, the paprikash hearty and delicious and the spatzel was nothing short of amazing-- one of those dishes where you wonder how they thought to put those ingredients together in that way to accomplish an unexpected and wonderful result. Everything was five-star quality, just need a return trip or three to assess consistency. Alas, it's 1000 miles away from home.

Fantastic place! Was packed on a Friday night. We didn't have reservations, but they fit us in at a communal table, which was not at all uncomfortable. Had the chicken paprikash as main entree, which was one of the best chicken preparations I've ever had (although I didn't love the dumplings - good taste, but really dense). For starters, heirloom cherry tomatoes w fava beans, cucumbers and farmers cheese was superb, as was the grilled squash appetizers. Good beer list - a dozen or so on tap, mainly lesser known names. The vibe was excellent - loud conversation and good music - kind of like a hip beer hall. Service was solid - very friendly. A really nice update on German/Czech/Hungarian classics - good job BoHo!

You gotta have the local fare when you visit somewhere. When in Rome! I had the Hospade Mule - which is basically a light spiked ginger ale. I loved it. I was expecting it to be a bit syruppy - but it wasn't at all. Very refreshing. Get the potato pancake! We got it and the beef pierogi. Both were great. There are multi-colored carrots on the beef pierogi dish. Eat them - they aren't just a garnish and they are delicious. We shared one dish - the chicken paprikash. The kale sopped up all the flavor - Wow! The chicken was underwhelming on flavor by itself (IMHO), but you can make up for it by taking each bite of chicken with the sweet peppers or kale. YUM! We wanted all three desserts (coffee & doughnuts, pumpkin kolacky, and dark chocolate custard) because they looked so good. We decided on the custard. Goodness grief. Smooth, sweet, creamy, crunchy. We almost came back the next day just to have another! The space is chic, inviting, and comfortable. Jessica was our waitress. Such a sweetie. She even listened to my ridiculousness. I ribbed her a little and she threw it right back - nicely and appropriately.

Pleasant decor and attentive and efficient service, for starters. Coincidentally, I had the same items (deviled eggs for starters and the Czech roasted duck) t hat were noted the following day in a Trib review. With the deviled eggs, the pickled cherry-bomb peppers completely subsumed the smoked whitefish. (The smoked whitefish was the most appealing part of the dish - I wish I could have tasted or detected it.) The duck was superb and well accompanied by the apples, brandied prunes and smoked hazelnuts. I am not sure of the intent of including turnips. Had they been cooked to a softer consistency, perhaps they would not have seemed so inconsistent. The cheese kolacky was as good as any I have had, including in Prague. The accompanying plum ice cream was too delicate a flavor, I thought.. There are many more menu items of interest and I will return. It is a welcome addition to River North and a mere block's walk.

Amazing! Great atmosphere and delicious unique food. I had the beet salad, spaetzla and coffee doughnuts. I've had a lot of spaetzla living in Germany and visiting Eastern Europe. This was the best and most unique. Can't go wrong here.

Good draught beer selection. The personnel was very friendly and welcoming. We started with some roasted beets, with some squash and sweet potato, it definitely passed our expectatives. I order some duck and my fiancee ordered the salmon both were great choices. The price was definitely fair for the quality of food.

Found this restaurant in Chicago magazine and was excited to try it based on the reviews here and my love of eastern European food having grown up with Lithuanian parents. Also visited Prague a few years ago so had high expectations. We made reservations and indicated that we were celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Our server was very sweet and attentive. My husband is a scotch drinker so no review for his drink but I ordered a signature cocktail, Powell's cup. The flavor of the basil infused lemonade was good but was there any liquor in it? Tasty but not worth the price for a teeny, tiny glass of mostly ice. Overall, the food was decent. We started with the salt and vinegar chips (don't really know why we ordered them, they were just ok and not sure how they belong on the menu), beef pierogies and bacon buns. The bacon buns were very close to what I remember my dad bringing home from Lithuanian bakeries when I was a kid. The pierogies were tasty but a bit small and only three on a plate, paired with roasted carrots. We ordered two large plates, which, after the starters, was a bit too much. The chicken paprikash, which so many have raved about was just ok. The chicken was dry but the sauce flavorful. The Czech roasted duck was also a bit dry. And, if this restaurant is truly representing eastern European fare, where is the dark rye, Czech or Lithuanian bread to mop up all the lovely sauces. The dumplings that accompanied the chicken paprikash were dense, heavy and lacking flavor. Really? It's not that hard to make a feather light potato dumpling at home; why not here? So, at the end of the meal, we were too full to order dessert, however, because we had indicated that we were celebrating our anniversary, we were presented with the dark chocolate custard dessert and two glasses of proseco. Very yummy dessert and a nice touch! Until we found we had been charged for the dessert and wine. We brought it to the attention of our server who promptly credited our bill. Overall, a pleasant evening and meal but not sure we'll go back.

I just had a wonderful dining experience .we have family in from out of town and they were dressed casually, so we needed a restaurant where you could come as you are.I'm a senior citizen and was winded from walking from the hotel. I found out it was casual and plopped down in a chair. Alyssa saw I was tired and brought me ice water, as I waited the rest of the party.Bo Ho is a bohemian style cuisine but with a different spin. All four of us were delighted with our dishes and desserts.everyone of the staff was attentive and thoughtful. Service was timely and as we left I thought I will definitely return here. I especially recommend the steak tartare and bone marrow small plate.if you are less adventurous the chicken was also excellent.

All in all my experience at BoHo was unremarkable. Based on the rave reviews in our trendy local food blogs and even on Yelp my expectations were high. In reality this is just another new restaurant catering to a pseudo-epicurean crowd that seems to enjoy the hype of a new place over the true quality of its food. The Beef Perogies and the Deviled Eggs were both unspectacular and can at the most be labeled as "interesting". The biggest disappointment was the Pork Schnitzel. The pork seemed questionably pink and failed at the single most important property of a Schnitzel - it wasn't crispy at all! The pork is topped off with a dill sauce that overpowers the otherwise bland dish to a point where it becomes borderline appalling to the palate. In hindsight, the restaurant may be driven by a misguided concept. Bohemian cuisine is rustic and simple and probably doesn't lend itself very well to extravagant presentations. The only positive comment I have is the absence of TV screens in the bar area - this looks like a good place to grab a drink if you're looking for a quiet space with thoughtful decor, but unless you enjoy being disappointed I would steer clear of the food.

Outstanding. Fires on ALL cylinders. Service. Ambiance. Food. Alcoholic beverages. The chef has done a magnificent job creating dishes based On a cuisine that is under-served in the marketplace yet familiar to many local residents. (Last time I checked, Chicagoland has a much larger German-American and Polish-American population than Asian-American--but how many Asian fusion places are there? Too numerous to count!). I will add to this soon--but suffice it to say that this is the new favorite après-theater place for our family. Especially my 17 year old budding foodie daughter--the hardest to please. Try the duck--unbelievable!!

Being from a European household, I was pretty excited when the food I grew up on finally got a chic restaurant of its own. Expectations were high- would the pierogi be as good as my aunt's? The paprikash? Boho had a lot to live up to. The food can be best described as the comforting, family foods of my childhood dressed up in River North clothes. The bacon buns (if I find out my aunt has been hiding a recipe for these there's going to be serious trouble) were awesome. One of the servers suggested dipping the pickle in the preserves- do it!! The beef cheek pierogi were unlike any pierogi I've ever had. Different, but really delicious. Same goes for the chicken paprikash. Grilling the chicken completely changes the makeup of the dish. The sauce was really nice, not too creamy, a little spicy. And the potato dumplings were awesome. I have such a weak spot for those. Dad loved his schnitzel. It was super crispy and tender. Onto dessert and something my aunts never made: dark chocolate custard with salted peanuts and salted caramel ice cream. That was fantastic. I'm not even a huge fan of dark chocolate, but the salt and the ice cream complimented it perfectly. I ate it maybe faster than was polite. Had three cocktails and all of them were drinks I would order again. Overall I'm a huge fan of this place and I really appreciate the concept. It's about time pierogi got some stilettos.

Great atmosphere. Dark with a rustic feel. Our group of 9 came on a Saturday night with reservations around 8pm. No issues with seating. Our waitress was very accommodating in splitting up our bills into two. We ordered the bone marrow & tartare, deviled eggs, and cauliflower salad to start and all were well seasoned, well portioned and had great presentation. My favorite of the three was the cauliflower salad. Highly recommended. For my entree I ordered the spatzle and wasnt sure what to expect. It was a doughy, pasta like entree with a very tender pork belly on top. All in all I had a great experience. With drinks we all ended up paying around $50 each. Inside is a bit small so I suggest putting in that reservation.

I'm in love with this place. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. We lucked out and were able to get the last two bar seats, without reservations. They had just had a large party cancel and were willing to seat us at the community table, if we were interested. Being the anti-social human I am, I opted to sit at the bar instead. It was very early on a Saturday night (5:30) and the restaurant was almost entirely full. If you're interested in dining here, make a reservation. It's a small place and they are frequently full and unable to accommodate walk-ins. The do have a small waiting area with a couch and two comfy chairs where you can wait, order drinks, etc. They also have some great tables to accommodate larger parties (including a communal table). Our server/bartender was Dayna. She was incredibly knowledgable about the menu and cocktail selection. We ordered the pierogies, cauliflower salad with crispy chicken skin and chicken paprikash. The Paprikash was a generous portion - I was definitely happy that we split it. We thought the prices were reasonable, especially for the quality of food, service and ambiance. Overall, we were pleased with our experience and will definitely return on a future trip.

BoHo is perfect. In every possible way. The interior design is gorgeous and provides an amazing ambience. I went with a reservation on a Wednesday night, and we were seated in the back corner. Our waitress (I believe her name was Jessica) was exceptional. She was attentive and helpful with all of our questions. NOW FOR THE FOOD: as a big fan of bone marrow, I was absolutely delighted by the bone marrow and steak tare tare. My only gripe would be that I wanted so much more! For entrees I ordered the duck breast and my friend had the salmon. While the salmon was good, we agreed that the duck was to die for. By the time our desserts came, the chocolate custard and coffee and doughnuts, we were down right giddy. All around, the meal was perfect. I am already dying to go back to try other dishes! I truly cannot say enough about the ambience and the phenomenal service. BoHo is an absolute gem.

Best beet salad ever. I am borderline in liking beets. Also had bone marrow and steak tartare on rye. Appetizers were pricey at $25 to $30, and pretty esoteric meat oriented but the two dishes I had were very good as was the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Boho? Is that your name? Well name aside, I felt as if I had wondered into some place in the Czech Republic for dinner as I pulled open the door the other night. The dimly lit room with the dark wood furniture, the exposed brick walls and eclectic furnishings made me feel as if I was walking into a restaurant located on the old town square in Prague. We were quickly seated at a small table for two in the back, not far from the open kitchen and in full view of the oddly interesting wall hanging which was a complete dining room table top, set with china and mounted on the wall. Oddly interesting . . . If you know Central European cuisine you know you are in for big. bold dishes and my appetizer was no exception. It was a bone marrow and steak tartar combination that was absolutely out of this world. In fact- it was so large- I should have just stopped there and not ordered an entrée but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. My dining companion had the pierogi which he said was equally as delicious! For my entrée- it was pork schnitzel which was equally as delicious and perfectly cooked with the inside tender and the fried crust tender. My friend had the duck which after a bite or two, I couldn't decide which of us had made the better choice! And as if that wasn't enough food, we ordered two of the only 3 desserts on the menu . . .the donuts and the custard. Egads both of these things were delicious, filling and left us feeling like we needed to be rolled out of the place! Service was spot on and although we had a small glitch in trying to get the right drink brought over from the bar, the rest of the evening went perfectly. If you drive, there was no valet parking on the night we were there so look for street parking or there is a parking garage about a block north but know that will run you around $31 for a few hours (pricey!) This kind of food is not for everyone (tell your vegetarian fiends that they may want to steer clear, although there is a mushroom barley dish that looked to be veggie friendly) but I thought it was a nice change from the typical steak house that seems to open up in this part of town. And I loved the couches to sit on and linger in the front part of the restaurant. Made me want to sit and linger with an after dinner drink but then we pushed on to our next destination. Check out this little bit of Central Europe right here in Chicago!

This was my first time in at BoHo for a birthday dinner - I had heard about it from a coworker and was intrigued about the idea of having Bavarian food. There were five of us and we ordered some appetizers before diving into the main course - potato pancakes (would order again), beef pierogis, and bacon buns, the latter two of which I would skip because they just...didn't seem all that interesting. The meal, service, and atmosphere were pleasant - there was fish, schnitzel, and duck - but I personally wasn't so impressed with the food and flavors that I'd be coming back. I remember thinking that the prices also seemed a bit high, even though the portions were generous enough for us to be full.

We originally made a reservation, but because we arrived early, we ended up sitting at the bar. The bartenders who took care of us were really personable and engaging throughout our meal. They alone get five stars. The menu made it hard for us to choose an entree--everything looked fabulous--but with a little bit of prayer I opted for the spaetzle with pork belly and 'shrooms and my boyfriend ordered the skirt steak. I take pride in my food choices, and the spaetzle was no exception. The spaetzle was authentic (aka fantastic), and the pork belly melted in my mouth (aka the way it should). I also tasted the skirt steak, and it was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We were two happy campers with our dinner, so when we were offered a cheese kolacky for dessert, we knew we couldn't say no. Those cookies were happiness filled with cream cheese. Five stars for the food. Pretty much our evening was flawless, start to finish. I couldn't have been happier and can't wait to bring friends to BoHo!

My husband and I dined here for the first time a few weeks ago and were blown away by BoHo. I picked it because we traveled to Europe last summer where we went to Munich, Vienna and Prague so naturally the cuisine here excited me. The vibe is really cool- it's kind of a speakeasy but cozy and unpretentious. We started with the infused fashions- old fashioned infused with fig. YUM. They were awesome. We had several... We were also starving so we ordered a ton of food which was also a good excuse to try more dishes. We started with the beets (phenomenal- maybe some of the best beets we've ever had), the bacon buns (how could this be bad??), and the potato pancakes topped with smoked salmon. Seriously amazing. The potato pancakes basically stole the show. Get these. For our main entrees I got the chicken paprikash and my husband got the schnitzel. I normally never order chicken because frankly it's the most boring meat ever and is usually dry. Not this- it was juicy and perfect. And it was a ton of food. The schnitzel was really tender and a great spin on the classic. Our service was impeccable. The server was very attentive, very helpful and just a cool dude. The prices for River North too we thought were pretty reasonable. I've already recommended BoHo to friends. It's awesome and so refreshingly different than your typical River North joint.

Enjoyable upscale German/Czech restaurant with a outstanding draft beer menu. Relatively small food menu was well performed. Meals can be ridiculous in size, so groups should consider sharing multiple dishes. The potato salad was astonishingly good.

Had dinner with some visiting friends. Beautiful space, great cocktails. I am probably not the best for eastern European food because I loathe sour cream with fire of a thousand suns. That said, my pork schnitzel was excellent and well prepared. Friendly, helpful service....attractive crowd. Would return.

What a delight it was to dine at this place! Went there with a group for dinner and we ended up sharing the appetizers and entrees. Started with the salt and vinegar chips and steak tartare. Both were amazing but steak tartare stole the show! So delicious and packed with freshness and flavor! Then we ordered the duck leg, chicken paprikash, and salmon. Everything was great, I was really excited to try chicken paprikash based on every single review deeming this dish the best, however, we all found the salmon and the duck leg to be so much more delectable and juicy! There was an explosion of flavor with every bite. For dessert we ordered the chocolate custard and doughnuts. Doughnuts were nothing special, the ice cream they came with was quite flavorful. The chocolate custard though was wonderfully decadent. It had an amazing texture, flavor profile, and presentation. For all chocolate lovers, this is the dessert to go for! Besides the food, service was impeccable! And so was the decor. The place has a old, rusty, classy, yet hip feeling to it and I loved it! I cannot wait to go back there again!

In from out of town. My wife and I had a wonderful meal! Food was very delicious, flavourful and comforting. We found the portions to large and was suggest that most people get both an appetizer and entrée. We did not have room for dessert. I enjoyed the chicken paprikash and my wife has the schnitzel.

Ambiance: trendy and sexy Food: smaller menu but EVERYTHING was executed to perfection. A++ on presentation, cook and flavor. Service: on point and super helpful with recommendations on food and drink. I came here with a friend who was visiting from out of town. I've been dying to come here after I've been reading nothing but great reviews about BoHo House and seeing amazing press photos of this lush establishment. Chef came out and checked on us, which I thought was very thoughtful and just added one more touch to an already excellent dining experience. The manager, Daniel, was above and beyond amazing. These guys know what hospitality is all about. Do yourself a favor and experience BoHo house for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

It's not bad. Pretty creative spin on your Eastern European grandma's kitchen. Atmosphere is anything but homey. More urban chic. Prices aren't bad for river north. Recommend the cheesy potato appetizer called Hungarian Lángos

Everything was excellent including the service. I just wish they had more beers and wines from Central Europe.

Awesome Eastern European food - better than in Europe. Start with an amazing selection of Czech and microbrew beers on tap. For appetizers we had the grilled beet salad, sunflower seed soup and some incredible Rumanian cheese bread. The pork schnitzel and duck entrees were outstanding. For dessert kolachys and ice cream and Baltic Porter. Yum.

Chicken paprikash and duck breast are both so good! The atmosphere and decorations in the restaurant is also great, definitely will visit Boho again.

Everything in this place - so far - has exceeded expectation. I have been and back to this place more than 3 times and it doesn't let down. The food, the atmosphere, the czech beer! You can't go wrong with any food order, favorite appetizers Hungarian Lngos and chicken liver on Rye, favorite main dishes, skirt stake, Grilled chicken paprikash which I think is their flagship dish, and rightfully so for all the reasons that this dish is! So bottom line: this place is a winner. Good reviews are boring by necessity, there's little room for sarcasm and embellishment. And by that standard I declare this to be a very very boring review !

Once again, Yelp did me right and led me to Bohemian House for dinner while my boyfriend and I were in Chicago for a long weekend. It had great reviews, takes reservations, and has a interesting menu - all things that sold me! We weren't super hungry, so we split two appetizers and shared an entree. Both the Chicken Liver on Rye & the Slow Roasted Beets were fantastic starters. The Chicken Liver was rich and decadent, and pre-spread onto rye points, something I haven't seen before. Delicious, nonetheless. The beets were a nice counter to the rich Chicken liver, as they were delicate and light. For our entree, we trusted Yelp and went for the Chicken Paprikash. Our favorite part of the dish were the tender gnocchi, but the chicken was great, too. The chicken had a ton of flavor, nicely grilled, still tender and not dried out at all. The entree was plenty for us to split! For dessert, we tried the Coffee & Doughnuts, which were tasty and a fun way to end our meal. Overall, our server was really great. Happy, friendly, and attentive. One note though, as two guys in our mid-20s, we may have been the youngest ones dining here by about 15 years. It had a distinct "vibe" to it. We didn't feel excluded, more that we noticed many *grown ups* out on the town with friends.

Came to Bohemian House for Friday night date night and thoroughly enjoyed every minute here! *Decor - two thumbs up! Great place for date night or a night out with a group of friends. *Service - two thumbs up! Our server Zach was personable, available when needed and offered up great recommendations. *Drinks - two thumbs up! We had Derby Days and Eleanor's Garden. *Food - two thumbs up! Everything we had we absolutely loved. *Dessert - two thumbs up! I'll be dreaming about the coffee and donuts for the next couple of days. What we ate: *Salt & Vinegar Chips with an onion dip - was so tasty it had me licking my fingers...discreetly of course. *Hungarian Langos - sweet mother of earth this was utterly amazing! I mean one of the best appetizers I have ever had. Anything with Gouda is a must try! *Pork Schnitzel - perfectly fried, the meat was moist & juicy and the portion size was big enough to fill me up. *Rabbit Schnitzel - my date said it was delicious and I better give this dish 5 freaking stars. *Coffee & Donut - this dessert is a must try. The sugary donut balls paired with the coffee gelato came together in my mouth and performed one hell of a happy dance. *Dark Chocolate Custard - seeing how I hate dark chocolate I didn't bother sampling this, but my date damn near licked the bowl clean so I gathered it was good.

I went here for brunch last week and got the special (similar to a bratwurst) which was really well done and tasted amazing. The place was quite and not busy which was nice. I was able to sit near the large windows to people watch and have a relaxing lunch with very attentive service. Although I went for lunch, I can imagine a dinner would be really enjoyable here too as the atmosphere is light near the windows and perfect for sitting around their large blue couches for cocktails or the other end of the restaurant which is a bit darker and romantic. I will be back!

Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant from the raving reviews on yelp and it did not disappoint!! The restaurant is a close walk to the Chicago river, so it was a perfect place to dine at before making our trip to the architectural cruise! The interior design of this place is very rustic chic with dim lighting, perfect place for an intimate yet cozy date. My friend and I ordered the Short Rib Pierogi appetizer and their house recommended Chicken Paprikash entree. It was my first time having pierogi and I loveeee it! It's kind of similar to a Chinese dumpling but different. The short rib filling was very flavorful and the tangy wine sauce was superb! The Chicken Paprikash was amazing as well. Soo juicy and flavorful! The portion size was huge. We almost couldn't finish but because it was so good we couldn't help but stuff ourselves with delicious chicken. :) The service here was very attentive and accommodating. We needed to charge our phone after a long day of sight-seeing and they kindly allowed us to charge it there. The bathroom is nicely decorated with a touch of antique flare. Very nice. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Stylish, delicious and authentic would be the three words to describe this restaurant. I came here on a Sunday night before closing and the place was nearly empty. DIMLY LIT, BUT THATS NOT IT. Rustic wooden decor, modern and classy. This would make a perfect date spot. CLASSIC YET FANTASTIC. I couldn't resist seeing the wiener schnitzel outside of Austria and obviously had to get it. Guess what? This was better than any Wiener schnitzel I've had in Vienna! Once you chase it with some Pilsner urquell that they have on tap, it's a combo that you would be a damn fool to pass up. A BAR FOR A CZAR. It's a slick bar, with excellent service. I kept on wondering how busy this place gets on Fridays and Saturdays...I hope they stick around for a while. Being from Atlanta, this is truly the type of restaurant you just don't see.

What a lovely find in the neighborhood. I wish I had known about this restaurant sooner! This place has good reviews for a reason. They have unique food that is expertly prepared and awesome drinks. I have been only for brunch on weekends. My favorite drink is the Lavender Passion Fruit Lemonade ($6). I kind of dream about this drink occasionally. The Pork Schnitzel 5/5 is huge (good for sharing with 2-3) and completely satisfying. I've never seen this anywhere else! If you are a bacon fan, the BOHO BACON ($6) is a must order! Applewood smoked, thick cut in syrup but it's also soft and melts in your mouth. Unlike any bacon I've had before... almost like short rib texture. This is off the charts delicious 6/5! The Skirt Steak in eggs was decent maybe 3.5/5. Smoked Beef Tongue Hash 4/5 - tasty but not my favorite. The decor is really whimsical and unique with plates decorating the walls. It's a great place to bring out of towners and share a few plates.

There aren't enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe how incredible this place is. It's like this shining, hidden gem in River North. Who knew simple menu items could taste so freakin' good? The Hungarian Langos is, without a doubt, one of the very best things I've ever eaten. Add that to some salt and vinegar chips, the beet or summer salad, and the chicken entree and you've got yourself one fantastic meal. I tend to avoid restaurant chicken - it just never seems to be prepared that well - but this chicken dish hasn't left my mind since I first had it eleven months ago. Don't even think about passing it up. It's a great date spot or place to meet a small group of friends. They do have some communal tables, but they're very conscious to not put you on top of other people. I truly can't recommend Boho more.

If you're looking for something different, BoHo offers excellent Central European food in a funky yet stylish environment. We tried it for Sunday Brunch, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. We sampled the Hungarian Langos, a pice of fried potato bread with garlic butter, sour cream and shredded gouda. It was good, but one slice was plenty. The Pork Schnitzel Sandwich was more to out taste. Served open face, it was a stack of rye bread, sauerkraut, the schnitzel and Emmentaler cheese, topped with perfectly cooked sunny side up fried egg. Rich, but tasty. The beer flight provided an interesting accompaniment. We finished with an order of doughnuts, which are really beignets, served with two dipping sauces. While the menu is not extensive, there's enough variety to bring me back to check out their other offerings of this interesting cuisine.

Wow, how have we not been here before? I'll admit I've heard of it or seen something about it in a magazine, but just never thought twice about it. Well last night my husband and I decided on eating out but just couldn't decide what we had a taste for. We just started walking not far from home, looking at yelp reviews along the way and it led us to BoHo. When we saw the menu I knew that this was what I was in the mood for. You might ask yourself, "In the mood for bohemian food?" Well yes, as someone who is 100% Polish, this is my kind of food! To me, it's comfort food. Stepped inside and immediately loved the décor. Got a table right away and our server came by with her recommendations on a bottle of wine. We had the 2011 Cote-Rotie E Guigal, which was phenomenal. for dinner my husband had the chicken paprikash and I did the duck. Both were amazing! Loved the plums, hazelnuts and sweet red cabbage that came alongside my perfectly cooked duck breast. This place really hit the spot. Waitress recommended the apple strudel for dessert, also a home run. Loved how it was mostly apples and golden raisins, not a ton of dough. Def recommend this place, would love to come back when the menu changes a bit and try something different!
